What a joke of a country!

Come to Thailand, have fun in the land of smile, but go home at midnight! for <deleted>-x sake!

Nothing good happens after midnight (especially if it hasn't happened yet)....Your advice is wise.  After midnight, the normal Higher blood alcohol levels have increased allowing depressing effects to set in; this is when the destructive behaviors come out result, least one going to the monkey house, the other (usually) the foreigner going to the hospital.

I had a quick look at that you just sent me. What makes Potato streams far superior is the high quality streams and you get live 24x7 tv sport channels from the UK and US all for free.

And watch EPL?

What's wrong with the SPL or whatever it's called now? Apart from the new club across the city. ????

Thank you for your comments but NO. I am a diabetic, without grievances, and I have to control my diet accordingly (especially alcohol intake). I was only trying to suggest areas to visit for food, drink and entertainment available after midnight, like the bar you will suggest in the LK area for EPL at 03:00am! As for all the trash and annoyance you describe I personally have not seen or experienced the majority of it in 18 years of visiting CNX.  Yes, there will always be rubbish etc. but this is common in most cities around the world - have you ever visited Phnom Penh? No half eaten kebabs there (along with any other discarded food) as they provide meals for the street beggars. Enjoy your week.

My life certainly revolves around alcohol and cannabis.

There's even bars in Cambodia that sell ready rolled joints to smoke in the bar (we found three in PP).

Drinking in Thailand bars is too expensive for me now, I just drink at home.

Sympathise with those who want to watch premier league football after bar hours. If you are in Thailand longer term you can get get such services by online work arounds. If you want to drink alcohol, start your evening earlier. By midnight most Chiang Mai people want to sleep, not to be disturbed by noisy drunks.

Went to a late night shutters down bar tonight after-hours , left my bag by my seat and had a wonder about whilst mingling and watching football , came back later at the end off the game and my bag had gone

I asked the bar staff whether they had seen my bag and they were adamant that I didnt bring a bag in with me .

I knew that I did and my bag contained 3 cans of 7/11 Chang for post game . Everyone denied all knowledge of it and no one knew where my bag went .

Nevermind , I ordered a third 130 Baht large Chang and walked out without paying .

You keep my 3 cans of 50 Baht Chang and I'll have three of your 130 Baht Chang in return

I did consider requesting them to watch the CCTV to see who the thief was , BUT , it would have been me against all the bar staff and their mates , 10 against 1

So, I just walked off without paying my 390, 3 Chang bar bill

PPTV shows Premeir League I’m in the Northeast Even though

it’s advertised that bars close at 12:00 midnight I think with the

military control I think it’s 23:00 in Udon Thani.

There are two nightclubs that stay open until 02:00 don’t think

you’d be able to hear the game if they have television

I thought we were discussing Thailand which uses Baht and not the USA which I believe has c's & $'s !

PS; can you get Siam Reap and watch the EPL in the US of A?

I guess you’ve never been to Cambodia. They prefer usd as they’re money is worthless. Menus are priced in usd as is most everything you will buy there.

I take it there were other customers in the bar that could have taken your carry out?

Walking off with out paying for drinks is a low down scummy thing to do, bars work on tight margins and the staff might even be held responsible. Hope karma pays you a visit.

Be very careful of after hours bars...

Things can get pricy very quickly...

Just pay for each drink as you're served and things work out fine.

Lol, there is much more to find in Cambodia than just pre rolled. They basically have the choice of coffeeshops in Amsterdam nowadays.

Can't believe Thailand's second city seems to close down at midnight, I mean, <deleted> is going on here? I read that nightclubs close at 1am <deleted>!

From what I have read, there are different types of licenses that a venue can obtain: restaurant, entertainment place, and entertainment place w/o sale of alcohol, granting them opening hours until midnight, 1 a.m., or 2 a.m.

Though depending on the zone, it might not be possible for a venue to obtain more than a restaurant license, which means that it must close by midnight.

As alluded previously in this thread, effectively it means that the shutters comes down at midnight, but the party may continue inside, there is at least one Thai bar district where the two dozen bars or so doesn’t close until 5 or 6 in the morning, but driving through the street after midnight, you would have no idea of this.

I’m sill having great nights out post junta. The days of drinking until the monks are out to receive elms are not common any more but you’ll still get drink until 3 or 4am. Start earlier too, I start at about 5 or 6 now, by the time 3am comes, I’m done!

You’re looking in the wrong places, you need to be looking for Thai only oriented “restaurants” that serves beer and whiskeys ,Thais like to eat while drinking. Also gives you a opportunity to try socialising with Thai people that aren’t Bar girls, waitresses, or massage girls. Thais are actually pretty sound.
