Dog owner says he has run out of money - can't keep paying after savage attack on three year old

The owner of a pack of dogs that savagely attacked a three year old in Sri Racha has said he has run out of money. He has already paid over 100,000 baht for the victim's treatment. 

 

Little Namning was left seriously injured in hospital after he fell over and was mauled by Praphan Phromprasert's ten dogs.

 

He is a 52 year old motorcycle taxi driver.

 

He at first took responsibility by paying a 50,000 baht deposit to the hospital from his savings. He then borrowed 50,000 baht more. 

 

Then he said he had to find 10,300 baht to complete the bill.

 

The mother of the victim was now demanding that he keep paying for wound washing on a daily basis. Patsana, 41, also said she has had to stop work to care for her child. 

 

Praphan says he has run out of money.

 

Patsana has gone to the police to seek their advice. 

 

The cops plan to get them both in to resolve the matter.

I suggest that he firstly ensures his dogs are properly restrained to prevent any further issues (as putting them down does not seem an option here), and then starts working plenty of overtime to pay the bills. It is his negligence that created the problem and his responsibility to resolve the issue. I would also like this story to be heard loud and long, nationwide, so other dog owners understand that they are the ones who must pay in full, when such horrific attacks take place.

Why in hell has he got ten dogs that he cant control , they all need to be put down as a danger to people and he cannot own more than one dog in the future .

I love dogs but most Thai show no ability in how to take care of their dogs just letting them run free to do what ever they want .

I believe that the woman and hospital are shaking him down under the guise of hospital care. Many of the care procedures are governed by the medical procedure tariffs. Wounds are not "washed" daily. Constant "washing" will inhibit healing. It's stuff like that that raises one's eyebrow. Bandages can be changed and  medicated ointments applied. It is not that difficult for the wounds sustained.

 

Yes, I get it that the man is responsible for the damage his dogs caused, and yes  everyone agrees that the dogs should be spayed and neutered at his cost. However, it seems that the woman is taking this route instead of suing him for damages. If she pushes this, she will kill the goose laying her golden eggs.

What the hell would this help? The dogs would still be able to attack innocent people. Put them down I say, or at least pull their teeth.

Wounds are always( cleaned) washed daily twice in some cases....the infection is the real enemy in these hot dirty countrys

I had a wound, here in Thailand, Bangkok Pattaya hospital, cleaned and dressed it every other day. I spoke to my daughter, who is a senior nursing sister, in the UK and specialises in wound care. She told me that it would be best to have it re-dressed every day.

On the U.S., there were 4.7 million dog bites on one year. Perhaps the country with the worst dog(owner) problem.

 

Also, pit bulls were bred in the UK and US.

It is possible that the hospital is racking up unnecessary charges....should be evaluated by a third party just like car damage estimates by the insurance company....

 

fatal dog attacks in usa - almost 90% are caused by non neutered males so the sex of the dog and the condition of the dogs matter greatly in aggressive behavior...

 

poor journalism when saying attacked by 10 dogs....my background on dog behavior tells me an irresponsible generalized statement was made...animal control officers are similar to detectives and good ones can isolate the perpetrators....

Most Thai would not even report a dog bite....i also got bitten several times in Thailand and the owners didn't care at all, once in a shop, once in my own garden... Had to pay for the injections myself, the owners didn't care.

 

And most Thai around us never walk their dogs, let them bark nonstop, let them shit on the streets in the village (just open the gate for them)...

 

And i don't care about the US....we live in Thailand.

It is the Government's responsibility to control loose dogs. Either they are fenced, chained or otherwise under control, if not collect the dogs, if not adopted in 2-3 days, put down. I love dogs and have owned many over the years. We are now Cat/Bird people, all get proper care and love.

Damn right, total negligence in letting the dog attack the 3 year old, but he has paid dearly. If the woman owed that dog and it bite you or me I just cant see either of us getting 100k bht out of her. She is just bleeding him out for whatever she can. 100k bht for him is a lot of savings.
