American style capitalism sounds great until you examine the huge wealth disparity it creates with the wealthy owning most of the resources. This must result in civil unrest somewhere down the line. The signs are already there.

With logical thinking you are right.

But it seems basically every American dreams the dream to be rich one day. And when they are rich then of course they don't want to pay lots of taxes to pay for all those unsuccessful poor. So even while they are still poor, and 90% sure they will stay poor for the rest of their lives, they still vote as if they are a millionaire. American logic...

Bernie is indeed very authentic.

People like authentic.

But if you watch that speech probably younger people don't get this, but it's easy to imagine him as a communist labor union activist from the 1930s. Yes I said communist. Americans are more than ready for Socialism Lite (they already love it in social security and medicare). I'm not saying Sanders is literally a communist but sorry that's the VIBE I got from his speech. That's what I meant by packaging. It's just not going to ever play in a general election even if he gets nominated. Why hand 45 a second term on a silver platter?

I would, but I don't really like any of those. Got anyone else?

I'm speaking in broad strokes, not as an endorsement of any of the individual 'younger' candidates.  It's only March 2019.  We'll have to see who else throws their hats into the ring. Things will not get lively until 2020.

"My experience as a kid, living in a family that struggled economically, powerfully influenced my life and my values," Sanders said at a campaign kickoff rally at Brooklyn College, where he once attended classes.

"Bernie Sanders wrong to say, 'When you're white ... you don't know what it's like to be poor'"

Bernie Sanders, although a nice, well-meaning person, gets some things wrong.

...so, the poor should vote to loot the rich, then.

Enter the Socialists...demagogues who pander to the most base instincts of the masses (all disguised with feel-good platitudes of course)

The rich don't owe us anything.

Demagogues? We've got that already.

As refreshing and courageous as Bernie is in arguing to introduce aspects of socialism to America, I don't know that he is trustworthy and isn't already yet just another toothless figurehead for the still constitutionally suspended national security state to play another 4 year sidewalk hustle game of hope and change. I thought Bernie was overly aqcuiescient to Hillary in the 2016 election, there were many aspects of the democratic primary that pointed to election fraud and manipulation of rules to favor Hillary in 12 different states, Dem party correspondence via Wikileaks also confirm a program to appoint the candidate, voters be damned and Bernie said nothing other than to concede defeat and ask his supporters to vote for Hillary. While he overcame the corrupt mainstream medias near blackout of his campaign, and amazing and inspiring feat, the very same total blackout on the manipulations of the Democratic party to appoint candidates he has yet to overcome it would seem. That conservative Republican interests got behind and financially backed Hillary also adds to the mix where I for one feel uncomfortable to back a Democrat ever again. I was suckered by Obama and voted twice for him but I think enough is enough, and the meaninglessness of these big party candidates in terms of creating a change for normal Americans and indeed the world is enough to turn my attention elsewhere, no more big party support from me.

There must be better younger choices for the dems than another old fella who would have beaten Trump "if" etc.

It used to be Communist "people's republics" that always had old men as leaders.

Where's all the young talent gone in the US? Or is it that the old fart brigade just won't give up the power, privilege and rewards of office?

The democrats have numerous very viable younger candidates. Even a puppy named Buttigeig. Sanders indeed presents as a classic old communist. Unelectable.

Being a socialist at his age is a worrying sign. Anyone still socialist after 30 is either a fool or pure evil.

Well, if you're going to spend everyone elses money, you may as well do it in style and go out with a bang!!

Looking at this objectively, In my opinion,If one so desired to vote for  the dems,  I think sanders  running for POTUS and AOC as VP would make a dynamic duo for the dems.

We have those in Britain too. Our next Prime Minister, Corbyn, is an out and out communist.

He's not a capital "S" socialist. Just like none of the so called captalists running are capital "C" capitalists. Maybe he's 35% socialist as compared to the 25% socialist all the so called capitaists are. The only difference is he tells the truth about it rather than lying to protect a false "branding" *shudders*.

Not again. Nooooo. America needs Trump. ???? What would all the journalists and CNN have to report on if Trump left office? Oh, maybe some actual news?

Yes.

I'm sure they, and everyone being assailed by Trumpism 24/7, would be very happy for normality to resume in the news media.

Unfortunately, the man, in what used to be the most powerful job in the world, continues to make news that at times defies belief, and thus continues to make the headlines.

A man who is admired by a surprising amount of US citizens because of, rather than despite, his flaunting of law, misuse of power, and lie telling nearly every time he opens his mouth.

A man who attacks close traditional allies, disrupts world trade because of his selfish and distorted version of economics, and who regards the world's most dangerous dictators as good guys and his special friends.

I for one would love him to fade away to a bad memory and stop dominating the media.

IMO if the Dems hadn't sabotaged him he would have been the president today.

However, now he's just old and apparently bitter.

His appeal to me were his policies, but if he's just going to talk about life when he was a kid, I give him zero chance of getting the nomination, though it wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong.
