That is so cute. Is that bunny having a poo midflight or what is that thing under him?

I have the same problem with googling my name. :D

To encourage my vanity - i have recently found out that the real me has even a page in wikipedia. :o

And no, it wasn't me, and i didn't pay anyone to include it. :D

Hey Colpyat,

Are you the farang rescue worker that was featured in the Bangkok Post a few weeks back?

Nops, i am not. I heard about the Post doing a story on a farang rescue worker, but i didn't read it. But i think i do know the guy, and he is occasionally posting here as well, if it's the same guy. I don't know any other farang full member of one of the rescue services here. I am not, i am just tagging along, no uniform, no badge. Makes things easier for me, i prefer to be completely independent. :D

Anyway, good on the both of you.

:o jet it's hot air balloon basket

Google me and I usually get a sprinkling of old articles and reviews, mixed in with tsunami update reports amid several "imposters" who claim to be triathletes, artists and biological scientists.... what happened to all the serious stories I wrote? :o

I googled my name and my 'puter crashed. <deleted>?

I googled my name a few years back (put your full name in quotes.... these things "")... I appeared on page 5.

I did it a few months ago and I was top of the list on the first page, just tried it now and I'm on the third page.

Simply means that someone was trying to find me a while back, but have now given up....... Inland Revenue is my best guess :o:D

I get 89,500. Check out one of my copycats:

NASM space artifacts

The Gorgon program's origins are traced before the war, to 1937, when Commander Delmer C. Fahrney proposed developing a radio-controlled Navy air-to-air missile. In 1941, the first design was made and was based upon a turbojet. However, the turbojet engine was yet available and it was not until May, 1943, soon after the Westinghouse Corp. completed the first turbojet engine developed from American design, that the Bureau of Aeronautics (BuAer) decided to base the design around the development of a 9.5-in. Westinghouse jet engine. BuAer also looked at the possibilities of using a larger 19-in. Westinghouse jet engine towards the development of a ship-to-air version of the missile.

No, silly! You're supposed to google "jet gordon" not 'jet' and 'gordon'. Otherwise you get all the refs to both words. Ahhh, I don't know the youth of today!!!

At one time my profile on Thaivisa.com was the most popular Google listing for "aughie". It must have drove this other guy named Aughie crazy. He's an actor of sorts and does everything possible to promote himself, even to the point of trying to get himself listed on Wikipedia. The poor bastard. All I used to do was post on :o:D:D

19.2 million hits on my name !

I am an NFL player, a Hollywood Director and a PGA Golfer. I have schools and town halls named after me.........

Sh1t, its no wonder I feel so tired !

A few (3-4) years ago I googled my name, my real name not my tv nick, and was amazed because I got 25 hits, I thought, wow, 25 sites with my name on! Today I googled my name and got 18,100 hits!

What does this tell us?

My situation is the opposite. Eight or ten years ago, I could be found all over the place in internet searches. Now despite the internet explosion, because I'm much tighter on releasing my name and private details and because some fairly well known people have my same forename and surname, it is hard to find me at all in a search. I've finally been effectively "filtered out" of most search engine databases. I'm probably still there, but the hit rate is so low compared to others, that one would have to be much more diligent to find something.

Methinks it's much better for privacy these days to remain as anonymous as possible in cyberspace. With all the sophisticated data gathering schemes (cookies, adware, spyware, packet sniffing, etc.) it's hard enough to try and retain anonymity. Just putting your name out there is like an invitation. People putting the family histories, current photos of their children, and stuff like that out into the unprotected internet .... it's just like an open invitation to unsavory characters.

"packet sniffing" What the he11 is packet sniffing? Sounds ominous!

Internet traffic is essentially an infinite number of 1's and 0's arranged into packets of data based upon worldwide standard formats, and transmitted from one point to another. In some cases, those packets can be intercepted, opened and interpreted. A common situation today is the unprotected home WiFi (wireless) network. The software tools and technology to do these things are pretty common. All one needs is the technical ability and determination to decipher all the bits into intelligible information. Packet sniffing is most commonly used in network management to validate where traffic is coming from and going to, and if there is a problem getting it there. But as with everything beneficial, it can be and is used for the wrong purposes by people with less than honorable motives.

Thank you Spee for the honest and intelligent answer!

Did any of you try doing a search on your real name (in quotes) with Google Images? I found that a company I worked for had put my photo on the net without telling me and I look like a total dork! As for the text search, I used to be very active in Usenet News groups so there are pages and pages of hits before anything non-News related.

No Wikipedia entry for me yet, though. :o
