Who goes fishing?

Featured Replies

I am planning on going fishing on a regular basis to catch fish for food.

I have done a fair amount of fishing before but never really in Thailand.

Would e nice if i could tag along with someone who can teach me the

essentials od fishing overhere.

I have been to Cha-am fishing park a few times but do not consider that real

fishing.

Also would like to go sea fishing  a few times.

I do. Coming from the UK, I was used to float fishing and legering, and boilies for carp. In Thailand most people seem to use large swimfeeders packed with balls of bait about the size of a tennis ball, with about 8 hooks embedded in it which have a small piece of spherical white foam on to imitate real fish/insect eyes - and it does work. I've seen a single guy fishing with 8 rods too, fishing tackle is really cheap in Thailand so I guess you might as well.

I am, or was, an avid fisherman, which combines my other two favorite things - boating and the ocean (water in general).   Not much natural fishing worth a damn up where I live though, so all my gear sits unused.  Occasionally I go to a pond near my house and throw small Rapallas or Rooster Tails for (really) small Hampla Barb.  I've long ago given up on park fishing, can't stand it.  At least you live down near the sea, hopefully you can find an "in" with somebody down there.

Fisherman?  Do I get a prize for correctly answering the OP or was it a trick question?
