200,000 meth pills seized in Chiang Rai after pursuit

By The Nation

Rangers seized 200,000 methamphetamine pills following a road chase in Chiang Rai's Thoeng district on Friday night although the suspect managed to flee.

A unit of rangers from the 31st Ranger Taskforce staked out at a bypass road along the Thai-Lao border in Ban Khun Huay Krai village in Tambon Tap Tao and spotted a motorcycle driving at a fast speed at 9.30pm.

The rangers pursued the motorcycle until the rider lost control and fell onto the roadside. However, the motorcyclist managed to flee into the roadside forest.

The rangers found a bag, which contained the drug, near the motorcycle.
