A singer at an Ayuthaya restaurant is in a critical condition in hospital after she was shot while eating at another restaurant.

A friend - a transgender - who was also shot reportedly died later.

The owner of the Krua 2 Pheenong restaurant at KM 43 on Route 347 (Pathum Thani to Bang Pahan Road) said that they were shutting up to go elsewhere.

Petchladda Charoenwai, 43, who was known to the owner was still there with a lady boy friend and the owner let the pair remain. When the owner came back he found them both shot.

Petchladda was found by police out front of the restaurant with bullet wounds to the right side of the torso and under her chin.

Her Honda motorcycle was found nearby.

Inside the restaurant was her 30 - 40 year old friend who had been shot by the left ear and in the left leg.

He was named later as Amarin Lampha, 35, who succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The father of Petchladda, Banjong Phuttabut, 66, said his daughter was a singer at a nearby restaurant who sometimes came home and sometimes stayed with friends.

She enjoyed the company of several transgender people but he did not know the other victim or any reason why they might have been attacked.

Pol Capt Kittisak Udomrak of the Phra Nakorn Sri Ayuthaya police is investigating.
