There is definitely more to the story.  The problem could be that he has gotten too big too fact.  OR the RTP has a new plan and they want him to run it but keep it low profile for now.

There is no way they can hide this from the people he is too well loved and too well liked.  The only thing that could derail him is sexual assault charges and they would have to be kept quiet until everything is decided the last thing the RTP needs is to screw with this guy.

Or maybe he's just another crooked cop like Pongpat Chayapan.

It was about the destruction of the tourism industry and the staggering loss of income for the nation, due to his nonstop vitriol toward Westerners.  Nothing more. He has been neutered, and censured. He was completely out of control. He needed to be stopped.

I doubt that's it, maybe he stumbled on the Chinese / Indian citizenship for pay scam. Or maybe he's about to be promoted. We don't know.

I know it's early but I thought it was a typo and said:

‘Big Joke’ goes to work with big smile, says mum about transfer

I thought it said “big joke goes to work with mum after transfer”. Would be more fitting IMO.

This guy became an instant PR success partly because of his nickname. Most people who post here

will never understand why he was transferred, they don´t speak Thai and they don´t understand internal

Thai politics. In my  humble opinion his media success made many others jealous and uncomfortable.

Totally true. Many good tourists and travelers have been harassed by this guy´s ideas about foreigners and their role in Thai society. Thais should never forget that Thailand would never have reached this level of development without the tourists and their money.

Sometimes... it is very difficult to fathom who has the "little willie syndrome" and the "loosing face" thing. The Thais OR the people who accuse the Thais. The latter seems to be more likely at the frequency these appear here at the TVF.

Rather than a smile I would call that "putting on a brave face" for the media.

The closing down of his personal Facebook suggests he's in big trouble and not about to get promoted.

So, what offence constitutes big trouble, and can't be discussed?

It began with the millions in infrastructure money the Americans spent here, starting in the early 1960's. Without that, who knows if the Japanese would have had any interest in Thailand, as a manufacturing hub. One thing is for sure. They did not do it on their own. And to even consider the possibility that they can do it on their own at this point in time, and at this stage of the game, is to possess a degree of hubris that could be very damaging to the future of the nation.

Thailand needs tourism. But, they need tourists who spend money. The Chinese spend money worldwide. However, Thailand attracts very few big spending Chinese. They simply do not offer the level of service to attract them. Thailand attracts low spending Chinese, and the nation is suffering to a heavy degree due to that fact. Dunces like the biggest joke did a huge disservice to the nation, with his ultra nationalist agenda, and proclamations about foreigners being responsible for nearly every ailment that affected the nation. Thankfully, he was finally banished into oblivion, where he rightfully belongs. He was a tourism saboteur and an absolute fool.

As said above, it's an old picture of him.

9 million Chinese People visited Thailand in 2017. Chinese tourists to Thailand represent 30% of total inbound travelers (Tourism Authority of Thailand). Chinese tourists are pumping in nearly 6 billion baht a year. You can work out the spend per head yourself.

It's only got bigger since then, which co-incidentally was just before he was appointed.

Chinese visitors last year were the most by headcount and tourism accounts for about 11 percent of Thailand’s $395 billion gross domestic product. Chinese tourism represents 1.5% of Thai GDP.

Saying they don't spend doesn't make it true.

illegal immigrants , drug dealers ,boiler room boys..bars..prostitutes..etc..have to pay money on a permanent base so the police look the other way...this is their /police/main income ( refers to Thai style )

umlogic unreasonable laws are just created to keep the money flowing in..( new immigration laws ) .if some cop take his job seriously and catch the criminals source of income declines...( cause not only those who got catched are lost as police sponsors .. no many others loose motivation to do crime or to come to LOS ...they might move to Cambodia (Pädophilie rings etc ))  ... maybe he fined big factory owners who employed illegal workers by the thousands / means he hurt the elite .( the exploiters ).. logic result.person put on inactive post..again refers to Thai style... actually he hurts the local  crime economyy....there is no legal security here by reason to keep the cash rolling in .. anyone who invests more than five bhat in LOS is out of his brains and need to put under care...

Isn’t it funny - a country where so called “public servants” paid by our tax money play children’s games and don’t feel the need to inform the public - who has every right to know why thousands of people are moved to so called “inactive posts” - doing nothing - for political reasons while still leeching on our tax money!

I can’t see many Thais agreeing you have a right to anything here, even if you were to achieve citizenship you’d still be a foreigner.
The taxes you pay are considered part of the privilege for living here along with dual pricing at temples and parks.

Which is why one should not pay any taxes if possible. Since there's near to no return benefits.
