Chooka sent Chimpy this link.. Seems the two of them are excited about the 'return home'

They're coming home: Saints march back to Moorabbin after $12m funding win

The extra funding boost comes in addition to earlier contributions from AFL and AFL Victoria ($6 million), Kingston City Council ($5 million) and local football and netball leagues (a combined $400,000).

Together with a $5 million contribution from St Kilda, the Victorian Government's funding means the $30 million project will now proceed.

St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis said he was confident the club could come up with the funds to ensure the new facilities become a reality in the next 18 months.

"We believe [the redevelopment] will secure our future for years to come," he said on Sunday.

"This is something that is many years in the making. All St Kilda fans will be thrilled to know that a place which holds such a special place in their hearts and minds is now going to be regenerated. It will be given the respect it deserves to become a thriving place again."

St Kilda moved its training base from Moorabbin to Seaford in 2010.

New Essendon chairman Lindsay Tanner wants former coach James Hird back in the fold

New Essendon chairman Lindsay Tanner is determined to bring ousted Bombers coach James Hird back into the fold after officially taking over the presidential reins from Paul Little on Monday night.

Hird, who resigned as Essendon coach with three games remaining of the 2015 season, has had little contact with the club since his dramatic exit in mid-August following the supplements saga and a season of poor performances. But Tanner said he would reach out to Hird as soon as practical.

"He remains, notwithstanding these events, one of the all-time greats of the club. I think in many respects it's unfortunate that the public focus has been so intently on him as the key person in all this"This was a team failing, so I think it's important that he is welcomed back and remains a key member of the Essendon family."

Tanner said he would respect Hird's wishes "to be allowed a bit of time and space and choice about how things unfold", but that he deserved credit for the way he handled what might have been a messy departure

Premiership player Brent Guerra joins Michael Prior as a defensive coach.

Fremantle has moved to revitalise its coaching structure for the 2016 season with a raft of changes to coaching roles at the club.

Following the departure of Simon Lloyd (senior development coach/assistant coach) and Brett Kirk (assistant coach) to their home states, the club announced in October the addition of premiership players Brent Guerra, David Hale and Anthony Rock to the coaching group.

General manager of football operations Chris Bond confirmed today that Peter Sumich has taken on the role vacated by Lloyd as senior development coach/assistant coach while development coaches Simon Eastaugh and Marc Webb will share midfield coaching duties.

Mark Stone has been appointed forwards coach and Brent Guerra joins Michael Prior as a defensive coach.

Fremantle add premiership trio to coaching group

David Hale (development/specialist coach) and Anthony Rock (development coach) will work with fellow development coach Roger Hayden and Sumich on fast tracking the development of Fremantle’s first to four year players.

“We believe the addition of three new coaches combined with the allocation of new roles and responsibilities for our current coaches will really enhance the dynamic of the coaching group,” Bond said.

“Being able to add three new quality people to our coaching group as well as provide new challenges and opportunities for our incumbent coaches is a really positive outcome, not only for the club but for those individuals as well.”

2016 coaching team:
Ross Lyon, senior coach
Simon Eastaugh, midfield coach
Brent Guerra, defensive coach
Michael Prior, defensive coach
Mark Stone, forwards coach
Marc Webb, midfield coach
Peter Sumich, senior development coach/assistant coach
David Hale, development/specialist coach
Roger Hayden, development coach
Anthony Rock, development coach

The Age is opening sooooooooooooooooooooooo slowly after 7 am, all the freeloaders are on. Seriously i could go for a walk around my local lake come back and have a coffee and it still wouldn't be open...ummmm....finaly.

35 today in Melbourne, 2600 coke deals done from a melb flat, us lifts interest rates, Star wars is a triumph and tragedy screenings started last night...wow and i missed it.

Well Victory who were once champions suffer 3rd straight defeat, this time in Perth last night, after shooting there mouth off over the Asians Champions league is looking doubtful going past the group stage for the 5th time, they are notoriously slow starters and generally start to crank it up early january but boys if you think your gonna have any impact in the ACL you wanna get that finger out.

Rohan Connolly lights up the debate when he asks is the AFL switching places withe the EPL? now now there is absolutely no comparison, the EPL for who don't know is the English Premier league, the hardest and most prestigious of all soccer leagues in the world, seems little Leicester City which is Thai owned i think or at the very least has Thai connections is currently number 1 and having a stellar season to date, Crystal Place and Watford, elton old club...have been doing rather well....really don't know what he means by that question as he goes on to talk about how just a few raffle off cups etc in each comp, well Rohan hate to rain on your parade but a EPL season is 36 games, xmas time is the half way mark, thats when clubs like Leicester start to struggle and the giants like Man United crank up the rusty wheels, you see those guys on 150,000 big ones a week can produce it for around 30 games plus a season while clubs like Leicester's lot who are on crumbs start to ummm go missing, always the chance of course and lets hope so its nice for a change but most unlikely, Watford's squad would be worth 1/10th of Chelsea's, maybe even 1/20th. Over there throw enough $$$ and you win.

Ben Cousins vists the Tigers, hope they have every thing screwed down there, must be getting to hot for Ben in the west.

New Bomber president will reach out to James Hird in due time to bring him back into the fold, once a sports hero all will be forgotten in time, i don't go for holding grudges but i do have a gripe about the fact that because your a sports hero you pretty much can kill someone and its all forgotten 6 months later, Tanner says the mistakes were collective mistakes, ummm this guy was a politician and doesn't it show, when he states further Worsford appointment was perfectly timed as the club had been insular for too long that the drug saga proved Essendons resilience and that other clubs may not have survived similar events and consequences ........Lets put it the Alex's way....throw enough money at someone and they will coach you no matter what they said 6 months ago, Essendon did not escape intact, poor handling of the whole event from management down to staff cost the club some good players and an experienced coach in Thompson who were knocking on the door for a tilt at a premiership, lets not forget all the money blown on keeping Hird there and happy and all the lawyers fees that the club Kevin Sheedy built up over 20 years was virtually destroyed in 3 years.

So what have we learned today? We missed the opening of the new Star Wars movie last night.

Ben Cousins back amongst friends at Richmond

CONTROVERSIAL former West Coast and Richmond star Ben Cousins has returned to Tigerland in a rare public foray back into the footy world he once dominated.

Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale tweeted a picture of himself with Cousins on Wednesday afternoon, with the 2005 Brownlow medallist looking healthy and in good spirits.

2015 hasn't been great for the six-time All Australian midfielder, who has found himself in trouble with the law three times this year after being arrested by police for twice trying to evade them, and for being found inside the high-security base of the SAS barracks in Perth.

Cousins was the highest profile sportsman in Western Australia as captain of the Eagles from 2001-2005, and had one of the game's most prestigious careers until his world fell apart thanks to his issues with substance abuse.

After leaving West Coast in disgrace in 2007 and rebuilding his life, Richmond threw the four-time Eagles club champion a lifeline in 2009, and Cousins played 32 games for the Tigers in two seasons.

He retired in 2009 after 270 games for West Coast and Richmond.

When i read the statements by the new Essendon President, i thought; 'oh boy, more of the same for Essendon., Get ready for an extended run of some years of underperforming'

To take back, to say you are taking back, so quickly, the very guy who has stuffed your club up for the last few years and cost millions, shows the board just doesn't get it.

A favoured son he might be, but Essendon should keep him away from the club for 5+ years IMO

I'm looking forward to see how Aspergers Boy Bolton does with the Carlton team next season. I don't expect miracles, but he has a lot of positive vibes and enthusiasm..and with his Hawks experience, be interesting how it translates.

Team approach can fill glaring forward gaps, says Bolton

CARLTON can fill the gaping hole left by the recent departures of several big-name forwards by taking a team-based approach in attack next season, new coach Brendon Bolton says.

In the past three player exchange periods, the Blues have lost Eddie Betts (Adelaide) and Jarrad Waite (North Melbourne) to free agency, traded Lachie Henderson at his request to Geelong, along with Jeff Garlett (Melbourne) and Troy Menzel (Adelaide).

Henderson's exit at the end of last season leaves Levi Casboult as Carlton's only established key forward, given former Bulldog Liam Jones managed just nine games in his first season at Ikon Park this year, winning senior selection once after round nine.

But Bolton is optimistic the Blues can kick enough goals next season if they follow the team-first approach of the competition's best forward lines.

"I think every footy club is asking the question of how you kick more goals," Bolton said from Carlton's Gold Coast training camp on Tuesday.

"We've just drafted some young talent in that area. They're not going to be the answer straight away – let's be really clear about that – we'd like to see some little sprouts each year, but we have got key forwards in Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay.

Membership growth boosts Swans' finances

THE SYDNEY Swans have recorded a profit of $300,397 for the 2015 financial year.

It is the Swans' fifth successive profit and was achieved on revenue of $45.5 million.

The club has no debt and assets of $2 million, but chairman Andrew Pridham says the Swans will need to make a significant investment in a new training and administration facility in the near future.

Pridham said he was pleased with the result and hoped to bump membership from the 2015 mark of 48,836 to top 50,000 for the first time.

Sydney remains one of, if not the most challenging and competitive sporting markets in the world, so to post our fifth consecutive profit is a fantastic achievement," he said.

Growth in membership helped put the Swans in the black, with membership revenue increasing by 8.4 per cent. That was on the back of a signficant boost in membership the previous season when the club signed superstar forward Lance Franklin.

Opal and WNBA player Erin Phillips agrees to become Port Adelaide's first female player

Olympic basketballer Erin Phillips has agreed to become Port Adelaide's first female AFL player should the Power be granted entry into the new national women's league.

Phillips' impressive resume includes two WNBA titles, a world championship gold medal and an Olympic silver medal.

She is also daughter of eight-time Port Adelaide Magpies' SANFL premiership player Greg Phillips.

I saw this bird play in a charity football match involving former AFL players when she was about 16.
Sure it was a fun day out but she was like greased lightening with good hands.
If she'd been a lad that age there would have been AFL scouts everywhere.
Her old man could play a bit as well.

How does the women's league work?

Matches played before the men's games? Or is it stand alone?

I was tipping that Essendon would pick him up as a consultant. whistling.gif

Not bad for a bloke who's not a fan of caucasian women wink.png

Juddy's long been punching above his weight, Pia Miller was probably the #1 AFL WAG whilst Brad Miller was playing footy... For me though, Joey Kennedy has taken Juddy's crown...

No doubt Jetta made a mistake in heading to the West coast. The colors don't suit him at all. giggle.gif

I'd been saying all year Jetta could play off half back successfully..and now...what do West coast want to do?

'We need his outside run': Priddis excited by Jetta's speed

NEW WEST Coast recruit Lewis Jetta could play across half-back as well as on the wing and up forward as the Eagles seek to utilise his versatility, according to Matt Priddis.

Jetta was traded to West Coast from the Sydney Swans as a straight swap for ruckman Callum Sinclair, after the premiership Swan had expressed a desire to move home to Western Australia following six seasons in Sydney.

The 26-year-old played the majority of his football at the Swans on the wing and at half-forward. He kicked 45 goals in the Swans' 2012 premiership season.

Star West Coast mids continue time trial rivalry

But Priddis said the Eagles could use Jetta's speed across half-back.

"He has got great skill, great speed and we will be trying to use that wherever we can," Priddis said.

"If he can break the lines and get it forward it is going to be really good for us.

"Our half-backs were a really big part of us improving last year. Sharrod Wellingham, Brad Sheppard and Shannon Hurn, these guys really got our ball movement going. He will be thrown in the mix.

"He will play a little bit of wing and half-forward too. That outside run is something that will really help us going forward. He will be very versatile."

Priddis said the Eagles players were already excited by what they'd seen from Jetta at training.

"He has had glimpses at training where he has shown his skill and his speed and it is exciting for the club," Priddis said.

"I really can't wait to play alongside him. It is one of the areas we can improve in."

Jetta told the club's website on Tuesday that he was settling in well although he was still trying to adjust to the heat of the Perth summer despite being a WA native.
