Well well well"..........Dees and lions certain losers, now this will sort the boys from the men or the gamblers from the rest of us.......this is your big chance to pick up 3 spots gambling bookman......will you advertise your selections this week?

read back a few posts mate.

Yourself? Slow and steady, still?

Awwwww.....I should have paid more attention, your not sticking your head out all, there's sure to be an upset or two looks like your pulling that cart with me.....but maybe your doing a little mind game with the rest of us punters in here ......the pressure is on 5 to make up in 10 rounds.....well as the Buddhist say it's only a problem if you think it is.....the second half of the season becomes a mental game....who will take chances? Who wants to win? Hey chooks you can kiss the tipping crown goodbye but I'm catching you in fantasy.

One thing we know from this year....there will be upsets

I reckon your Demons are a chance over West coast..up in Darwin... not sure if i will lean that way yet. Imagine the Weagles with Tradebait Tommy and Jetburners Jetta in their midfield next year!

Geelong over Adelaide

St Kilda over Essendon

Port & Sydney game...no idea...i'll decide tonight...

Good to see nankervis debuting but i don't see the logic of it. We are going in with two rucks? Surely nankervis will not be the sub??

Pyke in for Derykcx

nankervis in for Tippet?

Towers in for Buddy. I don't know a lot about Dean towers but ill be watching closely

Shaw is lucky to keep his spot also...He deserved to be turfed back the neafl and his contract money given to Jetta

Anyway, If Port come out and hammer us in the first Q, Johnny L can think about making some changes after half time...really shake things up. whistling.gif

The logic as I see it is that Ryder is a dual position player, Pyke has been known to do the same. Lobbe is a 'key position' ruckman - Nankervis is also but does have the ability to roam into the forward line. Reid will continue to play 3rd man up when Pykey is having a spell.. Spiderman will also be in and around that 3rd man up role.

On paper, the Doonside Dole Bludgers should be able to rock'n'roll Port.

I'd like to see Joey step up and really get aggressive (which is where we'll be missing Benny McGlynn) teaming up with Captain Jack, Port don't have anything to counter them at the moment. Both Wines and Wingard will be busy with their selfie sticks and Instagram accounts.

Reg and Ted will need to switch between Schulz and Westoff to keep those to slugs guessing.

Swans have too much pace with White still out injured, Pettard's got nothing on Jetts and Rohan will leave Impey in the defensive 50...

The Swans do have a lot of pace...except for Teddy down back

Yes BookMan, it will be an upset if there are no upsets.

Just read Jarryd Roughead is out of football indefinitely after having a melanoma

removed. Does that give Collingwood a sneaky chance.

I'm also worried about WC after a bye. We're also getting scrutinized a lot more now

and have a tough run home. I'm still going to back us to get the chocolates though.

Bulldogs punish Liberatore for missing club appointments

I loved this partbiggrin.png

Liberatore, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury during the NAB Challenge, was due to head to Europe with non-Bulldogs friends.

However, the club intervened after he missed compulsory club appointments, a result of excessive socialising three weeks ago.

On Wednesday night, Channel Nine revealed the Bulldogs instead diverted him to Thailand, a country it feels can better accommodate his rehabilitation for the knee injury.

No way he will partying now!

And ... absolutely no truth to the lady boy rumours

St Kilda over Essendon ? If this was the game that you had to pick the margin, mine would be a big 0.

You fancy Essendon Ron?

No, a draw.

I have settled on the Swans for tonight by about 7 points...

I'm confident that one team has to win, so they have a 1 in 2 chance...unless there is a draw

Half time Swns game:

1st quarter Rohan looked great...Reid was sticky fingers in teh forward 50. Could this be his breakout game up front? Rohan sadly subbed out with a thigh.

I am liking this anew look Sydney forward line up. Put Buddy back in and it is a winner. A few minor tweaks .

Tippet must be worried. Send him back to the NEAFL...teddy Richards and Shaw can join him...Teddy gave away two goals with the softest of push outs...Shaw...what on earth was he thinking taking on 3 Port players and running with the ball from a behind kick out????

Tippet, Shaw and Teddy all back the neafl.

<deleted> you Schulz, cost me the margin.. Oh and that tackle on Ted, going to cost you a couple of weeks as well...

At least Ted was up and about at the end so that's a good sign, commentators didn't have a problem with the sling, Robbo was tweeting like a madman in disagreement... Definitely in the same category as Gibbs.

Real hard grit shown by the Doonside Dole Bludgers tonight. I really liked Nakervis tenacity, Butterfingers showed glimpses of why Horse has persisted with him.

Goodes again showed why he's not quite ready to hang up the boots, Captain Jack was excellent as was McVeigh - great leadership!

Horse's experiment with Trade Bait Tommy worked and kept Boak generally quiet, Wingard and Wines were pre-occupied with their selfie-sticks for most of the game. Thought the 3rd man up/double teaming by Lobbe and Ryder was well executed but geez The Lumberjack and the debutant played well in the ruck - really kept us in it.

Hard gutsy win pretty sure the boys had no interchange bench by the 4th quarter...

Rohan did his hammy BM..

Adelaide Crows coach Phil Walsh has been stabbed to death and police say his son will be charged with murder.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Walsh's house in Bungey Avenue at Somerton Park in the early hours because of reports of a domestic dispute.

Paramedics treated Walsh, 55, at the house but he died at the scene from multiple stab wounds.

Officers searched the area for his son, 26, and detained him a short time later in First Avenue at Glenelg East.

Walsh's wife Meredith was taken to hospital to be treated for a leg injury.Police said he was taken to Flinders Medical Centre for a psychological assessment.

SA Police Superintendent Des Bray said police were called to the home shortly after 2:00am.

"I can't tell you anything about the argument or the circumstances of that, but as a result of that both Mr Walsh and his wife received the wounds and the wounds ultimately caused Mr Walsh's death," he told reporters.

That's bloody tragic.

In this day and age, I can't see the AFL letting the Ade/Geelong game go ahead.

They might even cancel the whole round. I hope not.

Yeah, that's true. But I hope not. The Phil Hughes outpouring of emotion was a fine line that might have gone a tad too far.

Definitely consider postponing the Adelaide game. You know, the players might want to play out of respect

Death and life, they have always gone hand in hand. Cancel the round and it would set a an unnecessary precedent.

Yep, no drama's cancelling the Ade game, maybe give 2 points each?

I guess the Crows could ask the players and see how they feel.

One would hope the AFL would have contingency plans for something like this.

Not a murder as such, but a death.

I thought the tackle was different to Gibbs's although it had the same outcome.

I don't think it was a sling tackle as such but really have no idea how the MRP will look at it.

Do we mark it down as accidents happen in the game or the tackler has a duty of care

not to bury someones head into the turf?

To me, there is something wrong with the game if a player gets 2 weeks for a vigorous tackle

and Buddy and Tippet get a week for an elbow and a shirtfront.

I thought Gibbs deserved his 2 weeks as IMO, he set out to pile drive Gray. I also thought, in hindsight

that Buddy and Tippo deserved at least 2 weeks.

Comes back to the Firritio punch in the head to Buddy ...and a few more this year, doesn't it? What on earth do the MRP consider dangerous? Does it have to be an injury or concussion? if Fiffito had knocked out Buddy then he would have got 2+ weeks...even drawn blood.

My take:

The tackle on Teddy. 0 weeks. No intent there. Teddy was in dreamland last night long before that tackle

Gibbs. 2 weeks. deserved

Tippet - 2 weeks. Late elbow to head. Spiteful and reckless

Buddy - 1 week max. Intended, but contact below the head.

Firrito. - 2 weeks

Have a look at both those tackles and there are too many similarities: Schulz grabs Ted, pins his arms, braces himself and follows through with the tackle. In real time that's hard to see but it's there.

He has to know that if he's pinned Ted's arms that unless he hits the ground first that Ted is going to get - on the balance of probabilities - hurt. The players are all away the attention the "sling tackle" is attracting so why do it in the first place?

But it's a total lottery what the MRP will think or do (if they will)

Maybe the AFL will change the interpretation of the tackle like they have with the bump.

The onus will be on the tackler not to throw the opponents head into the ground, accidental or not

and you will get pinged. You migh eventually see tacklers just holding onto guys and not taking them to ground.

Yep, the outcome is looked at more than the act itself methinks. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing although

intent still has to be considered.

My take (on the current rules): Teddy tackle - no intent but I reckon that's going to change. NFA.

Gibbs - deserved.

Tippet - 2 down to 1. My take is that Tippet is not an aggressive player and to me it was a clumsy

uncordinated spoiling attempt.

Buddy - 3 down to 2. Ran past the ball, looked at the player and caught him high with intent to smash him..

Firrito - 2 down to 1.

And my new one. All of these off the ball punches to the guts. Fines should be increased from $1500

to $4500 for a first offence and double for a second. A third one will result in a 1 week holiday for being a

slow learner.

Agree with you there Khun Will, a rule change will be all but inevitable.

The outcome will be determined based on damage caused (Ted was KO'd) and ongoing damage sustained (how long he's out for due to the KO) - that will determine how many weeks Schulz gets. My guess is 2. On reflection, it'll go straight to the Tribunal because the MRP will go "W T F"

There's precedent for all of these confusing similar incidents but apparently that means sweet <deleted> all to the MRP. I think if Buddy had KO'd Edwards he would've got 3 weeks but because Edwards got straight back up this saved Buddy.

Tippett gets 2 down to 1 because he got Grimes flush on the facial area. Firrito gets let off because it was the back of the head and therefore the potential for damage is mitigated (go figure that one out doctor)

As for your new "fine" system, I think your "3rd strike and you're out for a week" rule is already in play, I think it actually goes a step further and is a blanket "3rd strike and you're out for a week" where the player appears before the tribunal for the 3rd time (regardless of the offence) and where he would normally get a monetary sanction - he gets an automatic week.

Watching the game, it seemed to me, that Port was much better than Sydney at the one arm pinned tackle.
