China GP - FI

Featured Replies

I posted this under general because China has nothing to do with Thailand motor forum but if others consider it is please move it .

Just seen that towards the end of FP3 Alex Albon, the Thai/British driver had a bad accident and wrecked his Torro Rosso. Maybe racing under the Thai flag he for one milli-second thought he was in a pick-up getting into the songkran mode.

On a more serious note he was lucky to escape injury although he is getting checked out. It is doubtful whether the team will be able to repair the wreck in time for qualifying which would be a shame as last time out he picked up his first F1 points but if he now has to start the race from last on the grid he will have it all to do.

Yup, saw the crash and initially it was noted as Daniil Kvyat's car. I suppose because DK has had a fair few shunts in his time!!

Shame for AA as he has been acquitting himself rather well and certainly keeping pace with DK despite his lack of experience. A steady race run tomorrow should allow him to refocus after today's excursion. He was sat in his car for some time which can indicate a problem but seemed OK once out.

The good thing was he walked away from it, unfortunately the mechanics could not rebuild the car in time for Qualifying, hopefully he will be racing tomorrow, though he will have to start from the pit lane.

That's how they finished and will be starting tomorrow, pending any grid penalties.
