Actually, it's more like this-

Person 1 I believe that God exists but doesn't interfere in the affairs of planet Earth.

Person 2 You are wrong because.................................... ( insert whichever theory one wishes here ).

Person 1 Up to you, and I was never trying to convince you of anything re God anyway. I'll carry on believing what I believe and I don't have to provide any "evidence" as it's my belief/ opinion. I'm just participating on a forum because that's what people do on forums.

Well, I wouldn't write them if I didn't believe in the words, but I don't take offense, as that would be pointless. IMO humans might be able to get a glimmer of what lies beyond the great divide, but that's all it is, a glimmer.

One of these days I'll be finding out for myself what lies beyond, but not just yet.

 

BTW, if we are talking about "making sense", I don't understand half of what you write. I might be able to if I were prepared to invest the time and energy required to just read long posts, and then do some research based on what you postulated, but I'm just not that interested.

 

Life is short and every day I'm a day closer to becoming smoke, so I'm just not going to spend that much time on something that is after all, an opinion.

Yes. Most of my skills involve helping sick people, which is not valued financially by the government that paid me.

No. God designed it to go round.

As a nurse I WAS underpaid for what I did. I helped sick people, but people that move money around get paid really well to do so

No, I never was because I worked in a female dominated occupation and they don't want to do what has to be done to get paid a decent wage. Underground train drivers in London got way more than a nurse, and better conditions, because they were prepared to go on strike to get decent pay and conditions.

not in this lifetime

 

- Do you believe you struggle with money?

no, I haven't been in debt since I cut up the credit card in the 1980s

 

- Do you believe money lost is gone forever?

of course

 

- Do you believe there's a limited supply of money?

no. they keep printing it which means it becomes progressively worth less

 

- Do you believe there's a never ending abundance of money?

see above.

These days they don't need to print it. They can just magic it out of nothing more than pixels.

Their knowledge is beyond the grasp of the average person.

And this perceived depth of wisdom beyond people's grasp is what elevates them to a higher status than their followers.

 

Many people have mastered the art of sounding eloquent without saying anything of substance.

 

In many cases it's just "abstract word salad."

I would have many things to say, but I will try to keep it short.

 

1. Been on this forum for the past 4-5 years, almost exclusively writing on this thread. I'll let those posts speak for me. 

 

2. Since the beginning, and those who have been here for a while know this, I have always highlighted that we don't need a religion, guru or other intermediary to explore our inner world.

 

3. I also said several times that I write here mainly for my own benefit. It's a good way to explore my beliefs, confront them with others, and discuss them in a relaxed and civilized manner. We are discussing ideas. Some ideas may seem more outlandish than others, but whether or not they are valid, is up to each of us to determine. Nobody forces anyone to change your belief system. Personally, I like to keep a certain degree of curiosity and flexibility towards the ideas presented, even if I don't agree with them. But that's just how I am.

 

4. If these ideas upset others, then the logical thing to do is not to read the posts and engage in the discussion. A great example of free will.

 

5. Finally, the fact that I'm being accused of such a high level of deception (or self deception in case I really have a guru delusion and I'm not aware of it) is both very funny and sad. I'm sorry you guys feel that way, but ultimately it's not my problem.

Reminds me of a friend of mine. He used to drink a lot and get into these terrible scenes of jealousy with his girlfriend. 

The jealousy was unfounded and he always ended up regretting his behavior until they finally separated.

At the time when Osho was popular in some countries,  including mine, he was not my favourite guru, and i was a bit suspicious about his followers, but in the years I've read something from him, and surely he cannot be dismissed just because he was travelling in Rolls-Royce etc.

For some people he is a great teacher.

Watching TV and Youtube documentaries on the universe,, I'm always overawed by it's size and complexity. Everything (including us) is created by it and returns to it. Therefore to me, there is no supernatural being, the universe (whatever it is) is God. There are no churches etc and there is no worship required, it's just there. I'm willing to be  put right, but there's no one living on this planet who can do that for sure.

Yes, I'm aware of the true meaning of guru. If you meant it that way, I could be flattered on some level but it's obviously an undeserved title.

But that's not the way you used that term when you talked about Tippaporn and me, is it? Be honest. You used it in a derogatory way, accusing us quite bluntly of manipulating others for some kind of nefarious motive. 
So yeah, you can try to sugarcoat it now and apologize, but how long will it last until the next outlandish accusation?

When I had a problem with drugs and alcohol nothing - and I mean nothing - helped me.  I was a convinced agnostic for my whole adult life. Jesus saved me and gave me a new life. And according to his word, he took my sin punishment so that I will not perish at the end of all things.  It's very hard for people to believe, who have not had God work in their life. But in my hypocrisy, when I felt like I was dying from an overdose, I called out to him. And he saved me.

I think Jesus, in a similar case, said:   "it's your faith who saved you".
