Thunderstorm disrupts power supply in Chiang Rai

By The Nation

The Mae Lao district of Chiang Rai province suffered a partial blackout on Friday night after a thunderstorm toppled 16 power poles in two tambon.

Local residents said Tambon Bua Sasee and Tambon Pa Kor Dam were hit by the storm for about 20 minutes. The storm toppled power poles and blew tree branches onto the main road linking the two tambon.

Officials took about half an hour to clear the branches from the road while workers from the Chiang Rai provincial electricity office worked through the night to restore power.

The provincial administration is yet to survey the damage suffered by the local villagers.

What I cannot understand it happens so often here(chiang rai) we have heard all the excuses , equipment is damaged ,this happened that happened . Why after all these years it still happens ... You could understand once in a blue moon , but bloody hell there blue moons every third day here .

Oh , please do not mention how many times times the water is turned off

I guess we are lucky where we are.  We go for months between outages and usually are given notice of when and how long a work related outage will be.  Storm outages are usually brief.

Water is not a problem as long as the power is on, because we have a large tank of stored water.

water went off again today , feel sorry for the families near me , I just went and turned my pump on .
