I always look at the TMD ( Thailand Meteorological Department ) daily weather forecasts and also for yesterdays weather reports but of late they do not seem too reliable . Late yesterday p.m. 17 00 hrs there was a cyclone in my  area that delivered a heavy rainfall along with strong winds . It was as far as the eye could see . Lasted for nearly 3 hours and also cut our electric supply . This is in the Surin province of Prasat .  This morning the TMD gave a zero on yesterdays rainfall from 3 areas of Surin .  The previous day there were no reports on the hottest temperatures from all areas of Thailand , only a n/a .  I accept that weather forecasting is not easy in this country and is often localised but I think that the main government body should be more reliable .

Is there a better service to be had as an alternative ?

I forgot to say that there was only a 10% forecast of rain from TMD when a friends phone app said 60% earlier in the morning of that day .

You will never find one reliable site in my opinion, its just not possible for many reasons. The most accurate way I have found is TMD radar, even then you can follow a storm and at the last minute it will veer off and the expected downpour equals nothing, happened numerous times this week ????

and the storm has just passed us close by with strong refreshing winds , only 20 minutes later has returned in a circular tracking .  Out fishing at the time but just made it to put all the gear away but had to drink our beer under a shelter , life can be a bitch in Thailand some times ????

I prefer this source:

I like the hour-by-hour chart, and the 10-day forecast. Sometimes it's amazingly accurate.

Caveat, at least for my area: if the chance of rain is less than 80%, it's not gonna rain.

was great reply until the last bit ????

For Pattaya, wetteronline.de is the most reliable.

Weather in Surin is very,  very localized, can vary within 5km.

Prasat, Sangkha even worse.

So true , A pal and I were out fishing and we were 20 meters apart . It started to rain heavily on him and yet I remained without any rain . Caused quite a laugh until a mini tornado came from the lake and took his large umbrella into the sky and landed 50 meters away .  Also one part of town can be getting flooded and just around the corner is sunshine . Really not used to this as the UK has much more widespread weather and easier to forecast I would think . But here in Thailand  an hour by hour update would give an indication of possible weather events .

Quite possible - but not going to happen, weather forecasting is all about data, the bigger the computer you have and the more data you put in the more accurate the forecast will be. Look at a Singapore weather map for a good example of this, Singapore is 50 miles around, relatively small area yet they can forecast for all parts of the Island, the reason is quite simple, they invest the money, the Thai "government" aint going to do that! :shock1:

I believe that Weather Station is the one at the Buriram Airport in Satuek, it's the same as I am using and I also have the same caveat, except for me it's 60% if less then that it's not gonna rain ????
