A Thai woman in Pattaya has gone to the police claiming that she was raped on Pratumnak Hill by a tourist.

Twenty two year old "An" (an assumed name) said she was with three friends on Jomtien beach opposite Soi 14 when they were approached by a man who said he was a Filipino tourist.

He said he wanted to sleep with her and offered her 2,500 baht for an all night experience. She had her doubts but decided to get on his motorcycle and go to his hotel.

But instead of going to a room he took her to Pratumnak Hill where he tried to drag her into an area beside the road. She resisted but could not fend him off and he raped her, she said.

He then fled on his bike, reported Ruk Siam News on Facebook.

She went back to her room where a friend urged her to file a police complaint in an effort to catch the man.

But then they think about all that money...

So is it a business transaction in breach of local law regarding prostitution?

When anyone agree to intimate favors for monetary gain,  well, a duck is a duck ...

Pinoy pay 2,500 baht for fun? Hmmmmm

This story fail on many points.

That's not illegal. She wasn't soliciting and no brothel

He offered her money for sex , she agreed.

By definition she has prostituted herself.

Not insulting anyone here, but let's see it clearly.

And isn't prostitution illegal?

Many guys will be paying their wife or girlfriend, that's not illegal either

Giving housekeeping money and paying for sex are hardly the same thing

Explain the difference, because I can't see it.

(Unless you aren't having sex with the woman, which appears to be a common theme with ThaiVISA posters and their live in women)

AFAIK no money was paid, there is no evidence that she had ever gone with anyone in the past for money.

Of course it is rape. She did not want to do it where it happened!

Each person has the right upto and including during the event to change their mind. It becomes rape when one does not stop at the request of the other.

Of some time after the deed.

Did she get the money?

These things must be made a binding contract in writing and signed by 2 witnesses. The Contract then must be registered at City Hall and be perfected by an appropriate Rubber Stamp so beloved of Thai Officialdom. There after the Party of the Top Part and the Party of the Bottom Part shall have 24 Hours in which to Execute the Contract.  After 24 hours, the contract becomes null and void and no claims can be made thereafter.  The Perfect Date.

Since she admitted to and agreed to hawk it for 2500 baht, was she charged with procurement before leaving the police station? Or was she just a good law abiding tourist?

No just mother woman trying to make some money to eat n have a place to sleep

Virtually every man with a wife or girl has to treat them to get their legs over, dose that make virtually every woman a sex worker?

It seems she voluntarily went with him and they agreed already to have sex. The only thing which changed was the location of their activities. Should that be called rape? I have my doubts.

I don't, he offered her a payment of 2,500 for sex at his hotel which she excepted.
This constitutes a verbal arrangement/contract.
He broke the contract by taking her to another location & tried to force himself on her

that constitutes rape !

A tart agreeing a deal with a stranger to spend the night with them and engage in services of a sexual nature has engaged herself into prostitution, be it the first time she chose to follow that course or the 1001st is absolutely irrelevant.

Looks to me all you have here is one criminals word against that of another criminal. Bit of a dilemma there for the BIB I would say!!

What's the difference between Money, gold, meal out, fur coat, every woman has a price, it is the oldest profession, so is not a short term contract better than a long term contract with all the get out penalties?

Why stigmatise it???

She should count herself lucky he was a Filipino tourist and not a yabba'd up Thai man; some of whom have been in the news lately for having been inclined to add some serious brutality into the event.

He was lucky, there are places on this planet where women carry knives and would have taken his manhood as a trophy.

The two you are trying to compare are very different. What you have in the article is a case of prostitution and a case of theft. Certainly not rape.

According to her she did not want it there and then, and made it clear, he forced himself on her, that is rape.

In the UK even a husband forcing himself on his wife against her will is rape.

Of course it is rape, if happened the way the Thai girl says.

If the Filipino man only said "sleep with her" and wanted an "all night experience",  nothing involving sexual intimacy, f@cking, sucking, or "boom boom",  was requested in his financial offering

No that makes every man a punter, john, or client.
