Karen war refugees lost their makeshift homes in a camp in Mae Hong Son in two separate fires on Saturday evening, but no one was injured.

Pol Colonel Wuth Pathomreungkul of the 36th Ranger Regiment in Mae Sarieng district blamed one of the blazes on an inadequately extinguished cooking fire and the other on unattended candles or joss sticks.

The first fire at the Mae La Ma Luang camp in Sop Moei district destroyed the wood-frame, leaf-roofed shack of two women, ages 61 and 23.

The second, which occurred soon after, partially damaged a similar abode 500 metres away that was occupied by a 47-year-old man.

A March 21 fire at the same camp was believed caused by either a rekindled cooking fire or an electrical short-circuit.

Darn it, you're right!  Why didn't they learn from the previous fire and move into a modern, cement-construction house with a decent fire-alarm system...?

Damn some of you TV folks are bloody arrogant sons ain’t ya!

dirt poor people scratching to stay alive, having to live in fire traps, and only option is open fires.

lets sit on our high horses n run these poor unfortunates down some more. Come on folks I’m sure there are lots more of you reading this thread who’d love to put the boot in a bit!

bloody disgraceful !
