Has anybody with a UK passport applied and received an Egyptian multi entry visa from the Egyptian Embassy in Bangkok before? If so do you need to make an appointment to apply for visa?

I worked for many years in Cairo and, with a UK passport, only ever entered on a visa on arrival stamp. Last time was back in 2014 when the cost was USD25 (only USD accepted, no credit cards) and was obtained at Cairo airport arrivals (plus other main airports) with no hassle.

Believe that an ivisa system has recently been introduced but for UK passport holders a VOA is still applicable but maybe having an ivisa might give more certainty on arrival.

Never came across a business visa, but never needed to enquire about one.

As for the Egypt Embassy in Bkk, only ever visited it when applying for a visa for my Thai wife. No idea how they would react to a nonThai requesting a visa as some Embassies would only allow applications from locals or foreign applicants who show some longterm connection (not tourist) with the local country. Direct contact with the Embassy should clarify.

Unfortunately my company insists on a Multi entry business visa, last time I DHL'd my passport to UK to get it but they will only accept Postal Order for payment so had to send it to my mum and get her to put in the postal order and then send it to the embassy and they would only return it to senders address. I right pain for what should be a simple process.

I have emailed the embassy in Bangkok to see if I can get one there as I have heard tell of a co-worker that used to work with me getting one in Bangkok.

Good luck and will be interested in your experience if the Egypt Embassy was prepared to assist. It may be that they would only need a letter of invitation from the Egypt end plus, possibly, suitable visa status in Thailand. That was my experience when applying for Indian business visas from their consulate in Cairo.

Having a 2nd UK passport may also help if you are likely to have similar requirements in the future.

In my situation I was based in Cairo for about 12 years but also travelled regularly to other locations. I was able to obtain 90 day tourist visa extensions, when needed, which also enabled me to travel out and in with no need for any VOA stamps. Not totally legit as I was working but my company had no issues with that method. Your company obviously is looking to do things in a correct manner but that has it's downsides as well.

I have the letter of invitation and a 1 year non O thai visa so will just pop in and see them next week. Apparently an appointment is not required. Time will tell.
