Phra Teera had just exited the RS building, preparing to take a taxi, when a man suddenly approached and jumped, kicking him forcefully in the back. The impact sent the monk sprawling to the ground, causing him to sustain injuries. Footage from Bangkok CCTV cameras, released later by the Channel 8 news programme, revealed that three men had been lurking around the premises, seemingly waiting for an opportunity to attack. The assailants were caught on camera loitering both inside and outside the RS building. One of them, wearing a white shirt and a red cap, followed Phra Teera as he left the building. This individual then launched the unprovoked attack on the monk, delivering a swift and powerful kick to his back. After the attack, the group quickly fled the scene in a pickup truck, evading capture. The incident has drawn significant attention, with many expressing shock and concern over the brazen nature of the assault. Phra Teera, known for his charismatic presence and community work, had just participated in a televised discussion, adding to the public interest surrounding the attack. “It was a shocking and unprovoked attack,” stated a witness, describing how the monk was caught off guard by the sudden aggression. The footage clearly shows the coordinated manner in which the assailants executed their plan, leaving viewers stunned. Police are currently investigating the incident, examining the CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but the methodical approach suggests it may have been premeditated. Inspection of Popular Pattaya Tourist Attraction for Land Misuse
Thandol Suwannarit, head of the working committee tasked with investigating improper land acquisitions and ownership violations, led a team to inspect a well-known tourist farm in Pattaya. The farm, spanning 150 rai, is suspected of encroaching on land designated by the Land Reform for Agricultural Purposes, Sor Por Kor (S.P.K.) and using the land for purposes not aligned with its intended use. On November 22, Thandol, accompanied by the Department of Special Investigation, the Anti-Corruption Division, the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Division, and the Anti-Money Laundering Office, visited the farm in Huay Yai sub-district, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi. The inspection followed complaints that the farm may be violating regulations by utilising S.P.K. land for tourism activities. The farm, which operates as an agricultural and cultural tourism site, includes permanent structures, two large ponds, and activities such as elephant feeding for tourists. The property covers around 150 rai, with the majority of visitors coming from China and paying an entrance fee. The farm manager, a business partner of the landowner, welcomed the inspection team and provided details about the land’s acquisition and ownership. The 150-rai plot was originally granted as S.P.K. land, but 80 rai was surrendered for a different land use purpose related to the tourist facilities and elephant care. This change left the land area in question without the proper S.P.K. allocation, making the use of the land for tourism activities potentially unlawful. The landowner claimed to be exercising their rights under an S.K.1 land certificate, which serves as a proof of land possession. However, the inspection team has instructed the Chonburi Land Reform Office to issue a formal request for the landowner to explain the land’s use within 30 days.
