Featured Replies

Hey - walking street closed on Saturday for the holiday?  No alcohol I've heard, but maybe on Monday instead?

yes, most bars will be closed.

Only most. So where are the others that will be open? I know of one, but I'm not telling.

AFAIK there's no holiday on Saturday.

Saturday, May 18: Visakha Bucha public holiday.

Monday, May 20: substitute holiday (office closure etc.).

May 18 being one of the highest Buddhist holidays.

Alcohol sales 100% forbidden midnight to midnight.

I can't tell whether any silent opening without alc. and loud music will be allowed.

I remember a dead and dark walking street from one of the last such holidays.

Visacha Bucha day Saturday 18 - no alcohol.

Just to be clear, is that from 12:01am on Saturday till 11:59pm Saturday? So Friday night partiers can't go out then because all will be closed? Or will the clubs like 808, Flexx etc. be open?

Yes.

Maybe a local can tell how the late night clubs handle Friday night and opening after Sunday 12AM.

When in Pattaya I am rarely on my feet during after midnight and disco/clubs are not my cup of tea (old fart ). Gave up WS since long.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to come up with that line. As predictable as 'Go home if you don't like ... (whatever)'. Points for originality - 0.

Ok, so the cocktail bar on the pavement outside Royal Garden Plaza is open selling alcohol. On Walking St all the discos are closed from the beginning of it until Raas, but all the Indian discos are open from Raas onwards, including the one next to Raas on Soi 16 (forgot it's name). They seem to be doing good business with lots of Indians coming in and the music pumping.
