Naklua Soi 19 entrance reclaimed

PATTAYA:--Pattaya continued clearing a Naklua traffic bottleneck exacerbated by private encroachment on public land.

City workers used heavy machinery to demolish the sidewalk at the intersection of Naklua Soi 19 to widen the roadway. A private wall was removed on May 10.

Afterward, plans call for creation of a new footpath seven meters long and six meters wide. A utility pole also will be moved. New lane lines and no-parking markers on the curb will complete the job.

The intention is to allow more cars to flow through the busy intersection which leads to Photisampan Temple and School and reduce accidents.

Why have such a wide footpath ?   2 meters would be sufficient then the road could be 4 meters wider.

Enough space for noodle seller stalls and  the M/C taxi guys to set up seats and block off the pavement to pedestrians.

Too many of the above replies have asked questions pertaining to logic.  There is none in all walks of Thai life other than 'how much can I make?'
