Some help please: Timing new O visa based on marriage

Featured Replies

Hiya folks, please lend me your expertise. I just re-entered Thailand on May 29 with my multiple entry O visa based on marriage expiring on May 30. I got a new 90 days as expected and so far so good. On July 1st, I will be leaving the country again for 2 weeks. So upon my return I believe I will be without a visa. And here starts my question.

Can I get a re-entry stamp/permit/extension/whatchamacallit before leaving which will keep my 90 days (that started on May 29) live?

Or, do I come in on a 30 day stamp (and if so do I need an exit ticket?) and re-exit in that 30 day period to do my visa (HCMC or Savannakhet)?

Or, do I need to hustle now and do the visa before July 1? (not keen on the necessary "hustle")

Or....? Any other ideas?

Thanks all!

You can apply for a re-entry permit for the 90 day entry from you non-o visa. It would be valid for entry up to the date the 90 days ends and that is the permit to stay date you will get using it.

As UJ says above, then extend again for 60 days (visiting wife) and you will be good until nearly November time ????

Great news, thank you! Is that something done at the airport just prior to departure or is it something to take up a few days earlier at immigration in Chiang Mai?

It can be done at some airports on departure from the country. The Chiang Mai airport has a desk that is open when they have international flights departing. Both airports in Bangkok have desks open 24 hours a day.

IMO to be sure you get one I suggest getting it at immigration.

Thank you, UJ. I'll give it a whirl a few days prior to departure at immigration.

Cheers, BAmboozled.
