Works for me. Not sure what the next solution is -- annex these lands to Malaysia? Heck, why not. They're never going to be part of a productive Thai economy anyway -- just a festering sore. Prayut had no good alternatives, nor will he in the future. Anyone else in charge would have had the same hurdles. So we can agree that there is still no peace in Thailand and the streets are safe due to a heavybdose of human right abuses in the last 5 years and possibly the next few years under Prayut, Prawit and Anupong. The later two still hold the defense and interior portfolio. No change.

Well there is that! Thanathorn must have known that scenario would play out. Even from the start when Big P was out buying votes with tax payer money. That surely must have been indicative of what was to follow. He probably learned quite a bit in this run and he is young. He'll be active in Thai politics for a while.

"Democratic" means here the seats, which not always mirrors the actual percentage of a population, depending of how votes in various areas are transferred into mandates for a parlament – UK is a good example, in 2015 gave 36.8 % of the votes, 50.8 % of the seats – furthermore political negotiations into coalitions might also not mirror what the people believed they voted for. Just simple calculation of the votes in House of Representatives, which gives a majority, without counting the appointed Senate. That's what I say, everything else is speculation...???? Oziex1
Thanathorn, you knew this was going to happen, if not, you are in the wrong place. Stop whining and get on with doing the best you can as an effective opposition, you and your people will have to work at it and it will not be easy. Your supporters expect something from you are you up to it?

No, the 11 seats were stolen, so it would revert back to the original 245 to 255 - a majority for the PT + FF led coalition.

Its depending of calculation method what was "enough" votes, I don't speculate in "if" another count of votes were used, I just looked at what the number of seats in the elected House of Representatives voted, because that is a fact. Without the senators, there were still a "democratic" majority of seats. I have no opinion about the one, or the other, side is right, or wrong; I'm just observing facts...???? 1

It can hardly be described as going out on a limb to aver that the election was neither free nor fair. https://prachatai.com/english/node/7993 Here's my favourite Nation TV reported that in Bueng Kum, after the Palang Pracharat candidate was declared to have the highest number of votes, the Future Forward candidate requested a re-count. It was then found that there were more ballots than there should be in the constituency.
