Thanathorn insists he was robbed of premiership by the Senate’s influence

Then, I guess, we would have needed Thaksin's tactics to solve the problem -- dead meat by the roadside. Works for me. Not sure what the next solution is -- annex these lands to Malaysia? Heck, why not. They're never going to be part of a productive Thai economy anyway -- just a festering sore.

Prayut had no good alternatives, nor will he in the future. Anyone else in charge would have had the same hurdles.

So we can agree that there is still no peace in Thailand and the streets are safe due to a heavybdose of human right abuses in the last 5 years and possibly the next few years under Prayut, Prawit and Anupong. The later two still hold the defense and interior portfolio. No change.

The last act of robbery is that the Junta controlled ECC gave free seats to parties that were not eligible to have one or ever should have had one. Then the Junta bought them. I think there were 11 se

And of course, all 250 Senators were appointed by Prayut and hence hardly likely to vote against him.

I like this guy, as does my 18 year old son and his friends who all voted for  him. Sad that they were ignored/blocked, but they have time on their side..

Well there is that! Thanathorn must have known that scenario would play out. Even from the start when Big P was out buying votes with tax payer money. That surely must have been indicative of what was to follow. He probably learned quite a bit in this run and he is young. He'll be active in Thai politics for a while.

Too true.

The 11 seats the EC moved across to top up that 251 is kind of impactful though.

Don't you think?......????????

Your not trying to justify the vote - are you? :shock1:

Not I'm not, just simple calculation of a "democratic" majority.

"Democratic" means here the seats, which not always mirrors the actual percentage of a population, depending of how votes in various areas are transferred into mandates for a parlament – UK is a good example, in 2015 gave 36.8 % of the votes, 50.8 % of the seats – furthermore political negotiations into coalitions might also not mirror what the people believed they voted for.

Just simple calculation of the votes in House of Representatives, which gives a majority, without counting the appointed Senate. That's what I say, everything else is speculation...????

Thanathorn, you knew this was going to happen, if not, you are in the wrong place.

Stop whining and get on with doing the best you can as an effective opposition, you and your people will have to work at it and it will not be easy. Your supporters expect something from you are you up to it?

To bell the cat means to attempt or agree to attempt an impossibly difficult task that if achieved, will benefit the entire community.

Perhaps you should have watched yesterday's events at Thammasart University.

You actually think this was a free and fair election? Is that your honest opinion?

Senator's vote or not – in my calculator 251 MPs are more than 244 MPs...????

Take out the 11 parties who failed to get enough votes and it comes to 240 v 244.

No, the 11 seats were stolen, so it would revert back to the original 245 to 255 - a majority for the PT + FF led coalition.

I believe that is what he meant, but yes.

Speculation, no one can prove the one or the other, I don't speculate...????

Its depending of calculation method what was "enough" votes, I don't speculate in "if" another count of votes were used, I just looked at what the number of seats in the elected House of Representatives voted, because that is a fact. Without the senators, there were still a "democratic" majority of seats.

I have no opinion about the one, or the other, side is right, or wrong; I'm just observing facts...????

It can hardly be described as going out on a limb to aver that the election was neither free nor fair.

Here's my favourite

Nation TV reported that in Bueng Kum, after the Palang Pracharat candidate was declared to have the highest number of votes, the Future Forward candidate requested a re-count. It was then found that there were more ballots than there should be in the constituency.

Where is the robbery?

The real robbery would've been if the leader of the party that finished 3rd was made PM.

Offered the job so his party would join another.

Both sides engage in scandalous horse trading.

There's always horse trading, it's politics.

Only one side cheated on multiple occasions though.

Can't tar them both with the same brush here mate.

Mate it was rigged from the start, you didn't have a chance
