How get rid of chemicals

I have some chemicals I've used for years in an art process (Cyanotype).  They are not the kind you would flush down the toilet.  I want to get rid of them and I was wondering if anyone out there could be more specific than "check with university."

In my area they throw/burn them on the side of the road. Preferably near some water source.
