I've read some people have been required to stay overnight when re-entering at Poipet/Arun with their non O multi visas? Does anybody have recent experiences with the crossing? Thanks in advance.

I stayed overnight the one time I went there. My choice. Not 100% sure if it is mandatory that you do so or not.

I will tell you to get a visa before you go. I didn't, and it cost me 2,000 baht.. You can do it online.

Also, the wait to get back into Thailand....It took me 2 1/2 hours. Very long lines and only 2 or 3 IO working.

There have been many reports of people having a problem when getting a new entry from a multiple entry non-visa at Poipet. Best to plan on spending at least one night in Cambodia,

You might be denied entry even after staying overnight and be told you have to fly into the country.

Since you already have the evisa you do not have much choice now. If you have a problem you could to to the Ban Laem crossing south of Poi Pet and enter the country there.

Avoid Poipet! You might be lucky, but too many people have trouble trying to do border bounces at Poipet. Every other border crossing is a safer bet.

My theory on Poipet is the Casinos want to discourage any one but gamblers from using this crossing....If the gamblers are screwing around with visas all the time the Casinos are loosing money...

Three months ago I was there, leaving Thailand touts told me I'd have to stay overnight, but when I told them I had a visa already they said it would be fine and it was - I came back on the same day. So I checked before this trip and am surprised by the horror stories. I've used the border quite a lot, with several stamps and a few Cambodia visas and never had a problem, always through on the same day. I always dress OK, while many in the queue don't. Maybe that helps? Maybe I've been lucky?

 

If I get stamped of Cambodia, then refused back to Thailand, do I just get a hotel in no man's land until the next day or should I go back to Cambodian immigration? I will take a copy of my WP, that may help.

if they refuse entry and you got Cambodian exit stamp already than you have to go back to Cambodian Immigration to have this exit stamp voided. Also, in this case, you should fly in. At least Ban Laem will not stamp if you have a denied entry in your passport. Difficult to predict how Thai Immigration will decide, to be on the safe side stay overnight.
