BANGKOK, 22 June 2019(NNT) - Bangkok Governor, Pol. Gen. Assawin Khwanmuang, presided over the opening session of district administration training. Mrs. Sillapasuay Raweesaengsoon, Permanent Secretary of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), who participated in the training, along with all 50 chief district officers, said the training was aimed at delivering management policies to 50 chief district officers.

A meeting with the BMA’s executives was also held to discuss guidelines for maintaining orderliness, provision of safety and alleviation of the suffering of people. All chief district officers have been instructed to expedite solutions to the problems of damaged drain covers, building construction and tangled communication lines.

The Bangkok Governor has ordered all chief district officers to inspect about 800,000 drain covers in their areas of responsibility and complete the repair of the covers within one month in order to prevent more accidents.

About time.

Absolutely about time, in fact decades late.

However I'll take a bet that in 30 days time:

- Very little will have been achieved, and

- The subject has gone to sleep, again.

The governor might also introduce a juicy fine for all those street kitchens pouring/throwing whatever is left into the gutter.

Ever saw what comes out if over-pressured drainage pipes blow off the manhole lid on a lower Sukhumvit Soi? Absolutely amazing what swims by you; none of it is degradable waste. What goes in - comes out; maybe stop Khon Thai putting it in - in the first place ????

All very well repairing the drain cover - which will probably just be poking the holes clear with sticks - its what's beneath the cover that's the potential bigger problem

Excellent, because sometimes those drain covers put me in a bad mood and there is no telling what can happen when I get home!

way back in about 1980 as a young man I stepped into a open manhole on a dark soi footpath and took about 10 inches of my shin flesh off thank goodness I was half-cut as it seemed to help the pain if I remember rightly. I wonder if that hole is still there lol lol ?

Ouch, was walking next to a gentleman who did the same thing, not a shin abrasion, broken leg, both bones, OMG, complete with nasty infection, look where you step.
