Latest data collection, post office Mae Hia

Featured Replies

Maybe nationally also, but this was Mae Hia this morning. Sending 90 day report to immigration by mail, rarely busy and normally in and out in a couple of minutes.

Handed over driving licence which has always been the accepted form of ID, no not acceptable we need your passport! I asked why the change?New requirements was the reply. As luck would have it had the passport with me so passed that over and then every detail from the photo page was logged in to the computer.

Then told that in the future only required to give them the passport number, which  is on the driving licence so back to square one.

I guess this applies to all of the post offices, at least in Chiang Mai, I asked. No only this post office ,Mae Hia,have to register passport details at each individual post office, no centralized system!

Never in 30+ years have been asked for is to mail a letter.

Perhaps some are just magnets for that kind of thing.

I have used MaeHia on numerous occassional to send out mail by registered post each time ID (DL) has been required, not required for ordinary mail.

I am simply relating a change for the benefit of those who are not as fortunate as you.
