PM pleads for cooperation from all Thais in NCPO farewell speech

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha today pleaded for cooperation from the Thai people and all state officials to protect the democratic system with the King as head of state for national peace and order and for the preservation of the Thai culture and way of life.

“Thailand is now fully governed as a democratic country with a constitutional monarch, with a parliament that is elected and a government endorsed by parliament. All rights and liberties are guaranteed by the Constitution in line with civilized nations. Pending problems will be solved through democratic processes without application of any special powers,” said the Prime Minister in his farewell speech as head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) and head of the outgoing government.

Democratic administration may be slow because of legal, political or budgetary constraints and the need to be receptive to divergent views, said the Prime Minister, adding that these are part of a democratic system that all stakeholders must accept in order to co-exist in peace.

Dear PM, you have no choice or this country will keep sinking further. True democracy is the only way

to have a prosperous and stable Thailand. Any 12 years old could tell you that.

I am truly amazed that he managed to say that without choking on his words, or falling to the floor with laughter, because everybody knows that is a total crock of you know what.

Sadly, he (and a few others who shall remain nameless) truly believe it.

I don't recall PM Prayut being elected by the people to participate as a member of a democratic parliament.

As I remember he was selectively elected as Prime Minister by the Palang Pracharat Party otherwise referred to as the Junta Party comprising mainly the PM's personal bootlickers, old military mates and the filthy rich elite who need to have their wealth protected and grown at the expense of the other 99% of the population.

With PM Prayut as ringmaster of this parliamentary circus it is sure to be full of side splitting entertainment.

Let the show begin!

This word needs to be spread far and wide outside the borders of Thailand, across oceans, over land. Let the sham be known.

One way to make Thailand a true Democracy would be for the Senate to be elected by the people and not selected by one person to ensure he stays in power .

The Thai are only superficially modern.

There would be hardly 1% of them that understand, deeply, democracy or actually want it.

They want you, and me, and other outsiders to believe that they want it.

Thai are ancient people with ancient systems of culture and express no convincing examples of wanting to actually become modern (as opposed to looking modern).

he is representing the ruling elite, he is not representing people. People didn't vote for him. The majority voted against him. He has nothing o offer, but misery and repression

I think Thailand should now be renamed,to emphasise the democracy it now has.

The Democratic Peoples Republic of Thailand

Following such great examples as The Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea/The Congo/China/Laos/Niger.

All of which are fine examples of Democracy.

Well, Koreans are ancient too, but they are managing, as are the Britons and the Teutons...
