BANGKOK, 16 July 2019 (NNT) - DPM Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has called a special Defence Assembly meeting in appreciation of the armed forces’ role over the past five year maintaining order and national security.

The Ministry of Defence’s Assistant Spokesman, Col Patchasak Patirupanon has announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Gen Prawit Wongsuwan had called a special Defence Assembly meeting, where he expressed his gratitude to members of the assembly and all armed forces personnel who have been the government’s main force in ensuring successful government security operations over the past 5 years, including national defence, internal security, maintaining order, institutions protection, national benefits protection, solving issues in southern border provinces, and assisting the general public as called for by the government.

The DPM emphasized matters on the key national agenda, including the improvement of military relations with neighboring and partner countries, and the support of national stability, contributing to greater confidence both within and outside the country.

Gen Prawit mentioned newer threats and challenges which come in many forms, which signify the need for cooperation from the general public. He then expressed his support for the armed forces in carrying out their work with tolerance, and promoting cooperation with the general public in all respects, especially internal national security that has to be advanced in parallel with personal freedoms within the limits of law.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister urged the armed forces to remain as the security pillar of the country, one that stands by the people, and thanked the general public for its understanding of the role of the armed forces and its continuous support, which has helped the country move past problems towards peace and stability.

They have definitely been very busy, for sure.

So many times I've read news reports about people who have been - or undertaken acts - deemed to be 'a threat to national security'.

Well done the armed forces. Keeping us safe in our beds.

a toilet to be near as one of the threats was uncontrollable opening of his bomb bay doors ..

I used to love that Bombay mix.

It was sometimes spicy - I remember MIchael Caine mentioning - it's only supposed to blow the bloody bomb bay doors off, not your head as well.

In fairness to Wong he does get some grief for the watches , hair dye , dodgy back-end etc so I'll go and see if there's any good stuff to be shared about him ..

If a real military threat ever shows up on Thailand's border....this psuedo-army of cowards will cut and run before the first shot is fired.

How about a military RUN by the people for the people (aka Civilians) as Minister of Defense?
