Hello.

Has any members here had a stroke before and live in Thailand?

How are you coping with it and is there enough propper medical services in your area to deal with your condition..

Hoping to move back there , and resently had a minor stroke due to stress from work and smoking.Until all this happened this week.

My plans were to relocate back there for good and run my business from there. Until all this happened this week.

All view points would be grateful

also wanted to add to this that I am 45 and still in resonably good health,

Well I haven't (knock on wood) had a stroke myself but I do know a lot about medical services in Thailand.

I'd say go for it but plan on living within 2-3 hours of Bangkok (preferrably not IN it as the air is unbreathable). There is top notch medical care available there but things take a serious nose dive once you're in the provinces.

The air is not unbreathable in Bangkok? 10 million are doing it. I believe the fact the doctors stay here and breath the same air says something about that. A few years ago I would have agreed (mostly due to diesel smoke) and my nose tester would be black after a short walk. But these days most of that is gone and even other level are not that bad. Denver it is not; but I would much prefer to be in Bangkok than in Chiang Mai at this time of the year.

Sheryl, my experiences in Bangkok, at Samitivej with specialists, was unsatisfactory. I don't know, but I suspect that Chiang Mai might have good enough specialists from the medical faculty. I'm not moving to BKK or back to Hua Hin. Then again, I've often been mistaken.

Are there any (other) stroke survivors in the Chiang Mai area?
