All,

I am currently completing a Further Leave to Remain for my wife, on the basis of Family life in the UK.

One of the questions is whether she has any children under the age of 18, which she does i.e. a son that lives in Thailand and has never travelled to the UK. By selecting 'yes' to this question, it then asks the child's date of entry into the UK, which obviously cannot be answered.

I assume as the online application form is not configured for these circumstances there are 2 options;

(a). Select no to having any children under the age of 18, and producing a letter appended to the application which explains the circumstances.

(b). Select yes to having children and entering a random date for date of entry into the UK e.g. 01/01/1900, and explaining the circumstances in the notes section.

Can anyone advise if they have faced this situation before and what they did?

Also, can you please advise if any supporting documents will be required for her son in Thailand for example, birth certificate, proof of address, a signed written agreement between mother and guardian on the circumstances. Please note that when she entered the UK, we did not provide any supporting documents for her son in Thailand.

Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

01/01/1900 is fine to enter. Another box or option will be available. I think I entered that he had never entered the UK. You will need his original birth certificate officially but as everything is now done online a scan of it will be ok.

See the answer to a similar FLR question I have just written in the last half an hour for the rest of the current process if you are not sure.
