Fifteen provinces across the country will get a soaking in the coming week as the southwest monsoon unleashes downpours, posing the risk of flash floods.

Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department director general Chayapol Thitisak said on Tuesday the Meteorological Department had forecast heavy rains for tomorrow (July 31) through next Tuesday.

He warned of the possibility of flash flooding and landslides.

Mae Hong Son and Tak in the North; Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat in the East; Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun in the South; and Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan in the Central region have been put on alert.

Chayapol said disaster-prevention centres in all 15 provinces would be on standby around the clock ready to provide immediate help if needed.

Citizens can call 1784 for help or information at any time.

Had a nice downpour at 2 in the morning in Prasat/Surin

After all these recent dry weekends people certainly will enjoy a wet week.

Yes, so my b/f informed me this morning. I was sound asleep. Place looking green now after the last few days of gentle & medium falls.

It seems the rainy season has finally arrived in Chiang Mai where this morn, I sit on the front porch having my coffee to a gentle rain all last night an this morn. More than welcome as we animals are dependent on water to survive and the reservoirs we're getting low.

I've just recently retired to Thailand. I'm wondering what site or app you find has the most accurate weather info for Thailand.

None that I have found are that accurate.

Do you mean current weather or prediction?

Thailand Meteorological Department has accurate weather radar and loops, many pages and settings. http://weather.tmd.go.th/#

For prediction, Ventusky is a fantastic GUI weather app developed by some guys in the Czech Republic, but uses global data input from NOAA and DWD. (you need to try this) https://www.ventusky.com/?p=13.5;100.2;5&l=rain-3h

If you just want to look down from a satellite, https://en.sat24.com/en/th

Seldom is the Thai weather wide spread but tends to be more localized . E.G.heavy rain all night in my town but 25k away nothing  . I have been fishing and my friend was under an umbrella cos of heavy rain plus whirlwinds . I am 30 yards away and no rain or wind  .  So not an exact science and not easy to forecast with confidence . TMD (  Thai Meteorological Department )  are the government weather forecasting body but when it comes to rain they give a percentage risk , more accurate on temperatures .

Thanks, I'm looking more for prediction, so I can make plans accordingly.

I'm close by in Buriram, and while yes we've had a few showers (including last night's) it seems the rains this year are much lighter and shorter in duration.

As others have stated, weather can be very localised so no one is able to give accurate forecast.

TMD - https://www.tmd.go.th/en/7-day_forecast.php is overall the most accurate.

WWW.wunderground worth looking at, can be more accurate, though not always!

For a general pattern of the weather Ventusky is "interesting" but generally widely inaccurate.

TMD radar is well worth a look, shows just how localised the weather can be.

Best of all is the app "rainviewer" but is only going to show weather that is 2 hours away & again reveals how localised the weather can be, you can be sure rain is coming until it is 5 minutes away and then it veers off or dies out just as you think you are going to get a welcome rain!
