Kalaya Sophonpanich

The education minister has instructed its top officials to study how to improve the ministry’s work to better prepare human resources and get the country ready for the 21st century.

Deputy Education Minister Kalaya Sophonpanich said Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan held a meeting with top-level officials of the ministry on Wednesday to hand down policies.

According to Kalaya, Nataphol told the meeting of the prime minister’s education policies and stressed officials that the PM attached high importance to education and the development of human resources.

Kalaya said the meeting was told that the prime minister would like to see more Thais with the ability to cope with the demands of the years and decades ahead.

Kalaya quoted Nataphol as telling the executives of the ministry to study how to implement the prime minister’s policies.

The executives were also told to look into whether and how anyone would be affected if the ministry applied technologies for educational improvements and how long it would take to implement the policies.

They were also instructed to review the requested budget so that the government could revive the Fiscal Year 2020 budget bill accordingly.

The minister also told them to adhere to four principles in the reforms of their agencies as follows:

1) Changes or projects must focus on quality

2) Work and/or projects must be subject to evaluation

3) Projects must not result in redundancies

4) Teachers of all institutions must receive development

The executives of the ministry were also told not to practice corruption in projects.

She is a Democrat Party dud rewarded for her defection to the PPP and appointed Education Minister by the PM as her reward.

She is the brilliant minded lady who proposed computer programming language be taught to kindergarten children.

No mention of stamping out corruption and misappropriation of school funds by school directors.

The RTP and the Education Department compete for top position in the corruption rankings.

Don't think they need to practice as they seem to have it pretty well perfected given their past performance.

Shouldn't that be principle no 1?

Pissing in the wind.  Wife has a good friend who has been a Teacher for almost 20 years and she says no matter what ANY Government says, nothing changes and everyone carries on doing things the way they always have.    Most Teachers are not interested in teaching, it's just for the money, the perks and the Retirement Pension, seen as a job for life and an easy number.

21st century started 19 years ago.

Even if they start now, Thailand will never be ready for the 22nd century.

Do it for everything else, but leave the projects for the minister
