A rainy season special for commuters and tourists in Thailand has been launched by “super app” Grab, offering an up to 40-per-cent discount off its ride-hailing services in order to provide hassle-free and safe travel during the rainy months of August and September.

The initiative aims to support the “I Love The Rain” campaign of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), which aims to help boost tourism during the rainy season.

Thai commuters and tourists can book JustGrab or GrabCar services by using the promo code “TATRAIN”, with the discounted value not exceeding Bt40 per ride. This ride discount is applicable to new first-time users of Grab services in the province where Grab is operating, for a maximum of four rides. Grab will also offer the promo code “RENTRAIN” to give a Bt200 discount per ride for the chauffeured GrabRent car rental service, available in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Hat Yai and Pattaya, for a maximum of two rides. This rainy season special runs from August 1 to September 30, 2019.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), has joined hands with partners comprising airlines, hotels, transportation and ride-hailing services and travel insurance companies to launch the “I Love The Rain” campaign to encourage Thais to travel domestically during the rainy season, especially to the rural provinces.

Beyond domestic tourism, TAT also aims to attract more tourists to visit the secondary provinces outside of Bangkok, so as to boost the country’s economy. Grab’s participation in this campaign will help bring commuters and tourists from door to door in the most convenient and safest way to avoid being caught in the rain.

As part of the campaign, Grab users who redeem the given promo code by September 10, 2019 will also get a chance to win special prizes from the campaign worth more than Bt1.5 million in total. Only one entry per user is allowed.

Why would they expect tourists to come during the rainy season when the exchange rates are so crap , they are trying anything and everything to get people to come but when they get so much less for their money why would you .

Oops! Better send some more planes up to make some rain ...

Wow. Rain. People have never seen that in their home country.

Great new slogan. It probably only cost 15 million baht to come up with it.

TAT idiots have come up with a new hub.

Thailand the HUB of (no) Rain.

Gold necklace? That will work, with Thais.

TAT new publicity for CM : come while the shocking fires are put out by the rainy season and enjoy an almost healthy stay, time limited offer

So this T.A.T.  "I love the rain", promotion must be aimed exclusively at Farmers.

as nobody wants to come on holidays and find its raining, they are

really scraping the bottom of the barrel, for ideas now.

regards worgeordie

So .......... if you 'love the rain' why would you take a taxi to get out of the rain?

Makes no sense at all. ????

The only time you can breath normally is the rainy season, so yes I can understand the slogan.

If somebody loves rain, get him to brain scan, fast. Something is seriously wrong with that one. Dry and sunny is the only climate suitable for human habitation.
