Lipid Profile

Featured Replies

Hello,

I was hoping in the coming few weeks to get a lipid profile(i.e. get my cholesterol levels checked). I was wondering if anyone has had good experiences with any particular hospitals/clinics. I consume above average amounts of cholesterol but I also run and exercise a lot and am very fit/ not over weight.  I am just concerned with hospitals in this country b/c my feeling is that they often tell you something is wrong even when it is not just to get you to buy unnecessary medicine. This happens a lot with the big expat hospitals. Maybe a simple clinic could do a better job and give me an honest result.

Anyways, thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks

In my experience it has been the clinics that often provide a handful of unrequired or suspect medications (often unmarked) - not most doctors in larger hospitals.  Hospitals have labs and provide detailed results of tests that you can easily confirm with another doctor or look up.

Bangkok? Bumrungrad are efficient and provide a reliable service. I get all my tests there - lipid profile, PSA, colonoscopy...

Sheryl, I am in Bangkok. I likely don't need physician advice after. Tests only. Just want to get a readout after making significant changes to my diet in the previous 6 months.

Thanks.

In Bangkok you have a number of good options:

1. RSU; Sukhumvit around soi 31. Though the website lists only packages you can also get individual labs done on request, I have used them myself for lipid panel.

https://rsuhealth.com/annual-health-check-up-program/

2. MedConsult Asia - a clinic operated by a British GP. You can walk in and get labs done on request without seeing the doctor.  (no need for a package, can get just the lipid panel)

https://www.medconsultasia.com/health-check-ups

They are located in the Racquet club on Sukhumvit Soi 49, it is way down the soi

3. Bria labs  https://www.brianet.com/en/clinic/bria-health-center/

Located on a back soi in the Lardprao area, can be a bit hard to find. Google maps sends you to the wrong building (though the right one is not far from it)

All 3 are reliable and all 3 will email you the results. There is no big cost difference among them, Of the 3, the only one you can get to easily by BTS is RSU. MedConsult needs a taxi (or BTS plus taxi) and Bria needs a taxi or self drive.

Wow.

So you claim they are lying and committing fraud?

I assume this is from personal experience so kindly help us out and tell us what hospitals.

Thanks

There are clinics around lower Sukhumvit that will do blood tests.

The hospitals here are good.  Beware of clinics  although some are good. Dietary cholesterol does not impact on your cholesterol levels. There is new medical knowledge now that does not test cholesterol but the cause of cholesterol inflamation ..a homeostacine (sorry about spelling) test which you can get in Thailand cheaply. BP test is important too. The big hospitals give a wellman preventive check up every so often with a big discount. In Pattaya I use the Sure cell clinic and the BIH on sukhumvit
