I am coming out again in October after a 2 month stay,I would like to stay for 6 months with my english wife.My problem is that she is wheel chair bound having lost a leg.It is very difficult to do border runs or go out of thailand for us, Is there any type of visa that would allow us to stay for 6 months Kind regards MM

a Non imm visa ... multi entry ... you could stay for a year .... but have 90 day runs. You could apply for a extension of stay based upon retirement when you get here. But a trip to Singapore ONE time while you are here would not be a huge burden I think

A double entry tourist visa will give you 60 days each entry, each entry can be extended in country for 30 days,(Extension costs B1900 + photo) so that will allow you a total of 6 months but you will have to exit and re-enter 1 time to activate the second entry. If you get a Non-Imm O multi entry that will give you unlimited entries but each time you only get 90 days which you cannot extend. You will have to leave one time if you stay 6 months which ever visa you choose.

A visa run only consists of exiting and entering the neighbouring country turning around and returning. Depending on where you will be it should be possible to get to a nearby town (eg Haad Yai) and get a taxi to take you and return you which maybe easier than getting a flight to a neighbouring country.

If you are staying in one the popular tourist destinations there are companies who organise visa runs and supply the coach etc
