I wonder if the "contractor" /persons digging the holes and leaving them in such a dangerous state all over the

"world class family beach resort"   have been tested for any thing too !

Only the ability to supply Brown Envelopes probably.

complete disregard to safety in this country....having said this....looking at the photo there are red plastic barriers that are big....no one should NOT see these...driver would have been alcohol fuelled....

British drunks riding around at 2 am after staggering out of some <deleted> bar do not help either....

The Pattaya News said the area was badly lit with not enough warning markers.

They said it had happened again without giving details of previous accidents.

I'm sure the company will ensure they pay the hospital ransom

He should be tested for brains.  I'm sure he will pass with flying colors for a head with no brain.

Rescue services went to Thepprasit Soi 7 at 2.20 am this morning after a foreign tourist hit a sign at some pipe laying works and came off his bike.

He hit the sign... how blind is that?

blind drunk..... 2.00 am, at which time in Pattaya almost certainly returning from the bar. Went clean through the road sign so he can't say he didn't see it! Lucky he didn't end up in hospital having a length of rebar removed from his <deleted>.

Gotta say that roadworks are a nightmare especially when I'm travelling at 90 on the motorway and suddenly the lane stops with very little warning. And another thing, who chose orange signs with black text - They don't exactly stand out in the dark.

I hate to say it, but he sounds like another drunk idiot on a bike, roadwork or not.

A good example of why NOT to extend drinking hours to 4 am..... maybe the minister should consult with hospitals as well as bar owners as to what the benefits might be.... they have differing opinions

while one takes a few baht the other cleans up the mess!

How can you tell they are all British. Do you talk to them or are they wearing specific football shirts?

Does the contractor bear any responsibility for leaving the work site in such a state?

Unfortunately there is a total disregard for safety here in Thailand, on Third road there are substantial road works being carried out but unfortunately there are minimal barriers around most on the actual holes but no lights at most so if one is blinded by oncoming traffic (people here don't appear to care if others can see or not) it could be easy to crash into the roadworks. Additionally on Jomtien beach road there are barriers around a large section of the road which is at a junction but once again no lights also the road lights are not working therefore if someone who is not familiar with the roadworks could find themselves in trouble, as we all know Thai roads are dangerous at the best of times we don't need these added death traps.

Is anybody ever deemed responsible for their actions here. It doesn't seem to register.

Well, had they enforced the opening hours to 4 am, he would've been happy drinking in the bar....

and how do you know another driver was approaching on the other side of the road....there is no indication in the photo !!!

No indication?     Because he would have already passed about an hour earlier.

Representatives of TAT, The Mayors Office, maybe DLT etc will all be on hand soon for a photo op as the flowers, candy and 1,000 baht compensation check are presented.

Plus a brand new Harley Davidson.
