Things for newborn baby

Hi, my girlfriend and I are gonna have our first baby in December and si we are starting to prepare by buying some things. We were thinking of buying a breast pump, does anyone know where we can buy one such that is not super expensive?

What are the most important things according to you, to have when getting a baby? Specially if there are things that are not super obvious but can facilitate the whole experience of having a baby in Thailand

The breast pump is not that usefull. My wife stoped using it after 2-3 days. 

 

Good washable diaper with bamboo sheet are a must.

Fill your trolley at I S Baby Shop.

 

They have good quality western stuff (at the standard high prices) then cheap Chinese copies around the corner in another aisle. An invaluable shop when mine was younger.

 

edit: It now appears to be called Chiang Mai Baby Shop. Not sure if it is still as good as it was.

Congratulations. Sincere wishes that your child is born healthy. The most important thing for me was sufficient "bonding" time with my son. A good air purifier would be a solid investment.

For the baby just keep it indoors for mid-January till mid-May with Air Purifier.

Nappies & plenty of them.  For our first born, me & the wife decided on eco friendly traditional cotton nappies & lots of them, or so we thought.  On the first night home from the hospital, we couldn't believe how quickly he went through them!  Don't know if it was a reaction to the formula the hospital used, or a reaction to his mother's milk, but it was one liquid squirt after another, all night long!  Be prepared ????

So what kind of eco nappies did you get in Thailand and from where? I want to try to go as eco as I can and would be nice with some suggestions.

Head down to the fabric shops at the market area at the east end of Chiang Moi road, near the river.  Have rolls of soft cotton fabric that you can cut to size.  But stock up on "pampers" too.

I have 3 (one for each floor of the townhouse), and I concur that they are fantastic.

We are having our 2nd kid next month, but from previous experience.....

 

A breast pump is a great bit of kit, my Mrs loved it and used it to store milk in the fridge. Get a decent electric one, the manual ones are rubbish, we have the Philips Avent which is good.

 

Definitely invest in a decent air purifier, if it's as bad as this year, everyone had sold out in stores and online, especially decent ones, we have a couple of Philips AC3259's that are excellent.

 

Pushchairs, prams and car seats can be expensive here, bought ours over from the UK.
