Hi there

Looking for advice on a reasonably priced dash cam for the motorbike

Bought a cheap one from Lazada, has lasted about 8 months. The screen failed due to water getting in it, and now the front camera has failed too

Are there any that have screens that can take the wet, either from the rain, or when washing the bike

Don't want to pay a fortune, but want a reasonable one, for piece of mind when riding. Feel lost now no camera to help protect me

Thanks for any advice

I have an Innovv K2 installed. https://www.innovv.com/innovv-k2

Its not cheap (about $330) - but its Forward and Rear facing and 'install and forget' and records to a master unit under the seat. It has GPS and can be accessed by a Mobile Phone App. It also records on a loop to a SD Card and has Parking mode (if desired, which can drain the battery if parked for any length of time: i.e. a week or more).

A small Forward Facing and Rear Facing Camera can be installed anywhere on the bike (where there is any sort of nub & Bolt fitting - i.e. headlight mount etc) its weatherproof and works off the Bikes 12v system so you never need to worry about charging the device etc.

I prefer this system to the go-pro type cams as there is no need to remember to charge it, no need to remember to turn it on etc...

The only weakness with a mounted system is that it doesn't record what your eyes see with a helmet cam perspective if thats what you are after.

There is also some amazing development with 'smart helmets' (Jarvish as an example) - the tech is just maturing so expect something impressive on this front quite soon if its not already out there.

The Smart helmets have the benefit of HUD with rear-view which means you can see what's behind you without taking your eyes off the road ahead (although the importance of the 'lifesaver check' can never be underestimated).

Iv'e been using SJCAM brand for three years and it's still working now.

Can't go wrong with an entry level GoPro too..

Thanks akx123

Have a Go Pro too, but limited battery life when riding long distance, plus having to turn on and off all the time

Like front and rear cameras , hard wired into bike so always on when riding, plus to have overwrite and loop. so no need to think about it unless a copy of the sd card needs downloading

Is your SJCAm watertight ? Can it cope with the jet washer when cleaning bike, ( although always try to avoid hitting the screen directly)

This seems decent and you can install the host under the seat. The cameras are waterproof and it has decent reviews. Under 1000 baht can't be bad. ????

Thanks the quietman

Looks very similar to the one i already have.which came from Lazada too. Mine said waterproof, but when catching it with the jet washer the screen failed, then the front cameras failed shortly after. Mine is installed under the front "fairing" on an X Max bike, rather than under the seat. I found the pictures were only just adequate, not hi res like shown on the pictures.Mayber i buy something like this, but wrap the screen in something to make it completely waterproof, providing it doesn't make it overheat.

It came with a waterproof case.

I agree with poor battery life. Overwrite/Loop features are available in SJCAM and GoPros too.

I guess you should get one of those permanent front and rear camera though, because I always remove the SJcam when I park my bike, so probably it's not what youre looking for.
