Expired licence renewal

Featured Replies

hi.....Posting a question on behalf of a mate hope any members can help with the information.

He is in Oz at the moment but his Thai driving licence expires in Jan 2020 but he isn't due to return until around July 2020.

He asked me if it is possible to renew licence after it has expired because he doesn't want to lose it.

My wife checked up in the little Thai highway code/driving manual type booklet and she said that it stated:

           1. Under 12 months expired you can renew as normal

           2. Over 12 months expired you have to go thru a more rigorous procedure identifying road signs and other aspects of driving etc

           3. Over 3 years expired have to do the test from scratch like applying for a new licence

If any members have had any experience with renewing an expired Thai licence or can confirm the above I will pass on to my mate.

                                 Many thanks in advance

yes, it will be no problem for him.

He has up to 1 year, probably will have to watch the useless video and anything else the local license place requires...
