Locals called in the Thai media after they reported that a near 5 million baht tourist center had become derelict in the Phangnga area.

The building on Petchkasem Road in Thay Meuang district is shaped like a turtle's back.

But the roof has holes in it and the walls are in a terrible state of disrepair.

A sign suggests it was built at a cost of 4,897,000 baht between July 2017 and February of last year. It is described as a tourist centre and a place for the distribution of local products.

Ratchanok, 38, told Daily News that she has no idea whose responsibility it is or who owns it. It has just been left to rot.

Her neighbors were cutting the grass but she wanted the owners to do something about the building.

:post-4641-1156694572:    Perhaps the land was worth 5 million? The hut  looks to be worth 100K.

I thought derelict after a few years was part of the norm anyway.

Yes that looks like a fine building worth 5 million baht, someone got their tea money here and left the party.

So fell apart in a year ? Remember that when you buy a 20th storey condo !

turtle let back to the wild...

Just another failed business .

A not such good idea .

There are many of those in Thailand .

I think the owner spent 50,000 baht on the building and has absconded to live a happy life with the balance of 4,950,000 baht!!!

Perfectly mirrors the state of Thai tourism.

ok the 4.9 mll went into somebody's pocket... they should check who in the neighborhood at that time bought a new car/truck

I like the architecture, shame for the cheap building quality / poor construction + corruption.
Seems to me the real cost of this building / land is around 2M, so someone had a good pay day there.

There are many buildings strewn about the countryside built as office/shop space or apartment spaces with zero tenants.  No pre-planning - build it and they will come -NOT!

Finders keepers, aye?
