What does it mean when you call a AIS cellphone number and it says ""Welcome to call back service."

I am trying to establish if this is because the account balance is low.

there is a text also that says "Call Forwarded."

Why don't you use the balance enquiry number listed by AIS to find out? AFAIK all providers in Thailand give a number to call for the outstanding credit.

Because whoever you calling has voicemail service activate and the phone is off.

It could also be that they have service activated which shows who called when their phone was off or out of service

Just reading that on this thread triggers the remembrance of hearing that. Triggered! There's that conservative vocabulary talk again.

Anyway seems like the question was answered well!

In the past I experienced it by picking up the phone with such message ….. and it was a kind of trick from a girl who like me to pay for the call....and indeed my credit lowered so ... as no credit or not wished to loose credit by her  ….. kind like accepting a collect call on your own expenses

It means the call is forwarded to callback service

The number is not available now. When it becomes available the caller will recieve a text stating number now available

Exactly.  Does not mean voice mail is activated,  Basically, the phone is either "off" or out of the service area.
