I'm the Poppy Appeal Organiser for the RBL here in Phuket.   Unfortunately this year there has been a delay in the delivery of Poppy Appeal merchandise to the Thai branch.   I had hoped to begin the distribution before now, but at the moment it appears to be likely next week.

I am going to assume that the businesses that participated last year will consent to doing so again this, as well as hopefully some new ones (any establishment that would like to join in, please PM me).   Last year:

Phuket Yacht Club (Chalong)

Happy Days (Chalong)

The Islander (Rawai)

Food For Foreigners (Rawai)

The Green Man (Rawai)

Expat Hotel (Patong)

Aussie Bar (Kamala)

Halfway Inn (Patong)

Chalong Fishing Park (Rawai)

Angus O'Tools (Karon)

The Living Room (Karon)

British International School

Headstart

Hash House Harriers

Thanks for the update list - pls do let us all know when they arrive.

Unfortunately, the word today is that the hope of receiving the merchandise ordered by the RBL Thailand branch is not going to be met.

However, I have a reasonable amount of surplus materials from last year which I've been sorting out today, and will distribute to the previously mentioned venues next week.

As much as I wish to, proudly, wear my poppy if supplies are not available at least I know where to make my donation

Damn that's a real shame, just problems in Phuket or are deliveries failing across Thailand?

The problem is the failure of delivery from the UK to the RBL Thailand branch.   This has meant appeal organisers across Thailand pooling what existing stocks they have.   Actual poppies shouldn't be a problem.   This biggest impact has been to schools where items such as rulers, pencils, wristbands etc are very popular, which will be limited this year.

As a matter of protocol/opinion, when does everyone observe the silence? Meaning do you wait for 11.11 GMT or use local time?? Whilst I understand that, probably, it does not really matter. My friend and I were just discussing this.

Again if you have nothing respectful to say, move along pls

Always gone with local time as taught by my father (2nd/7th Field Artillery, Australian Army) a lot of years ago.
