Popular Post uncleeagle
So lets do some simple maths...1.2 trillion baht in revenue from 30 million arrivals. Meaning on average 46000 per arrival, according to their own figures. I am one of those white western over 50s the authorities are clearly attempting to drive out with their ever nastier, more unreasonable, ever more inconvenient, time consuming, intrusive, abusive and now expensive visa extension procedures, added to which there is always the risk of being randomly denied entry and detained at the airport. I spend about 8 months per year in Thailand and spend about 150000 baht per month while in the country. So, when they succeed in driving me away completely....the new mandatory insurance requirement is the final nail in the coffin...im now done...they will need 30 visitors from China to make up for my lost revenue. Does that makes any sense? Only to a racist, xenophobic small minded pig. 7

Sal Boto
The discriminating Japanese single male traveller is almost non-existant at the world famous Nana Rainbow gentlemens clubs. Last night i counted 25 females (house girls) not Coyotes. 5 years ago there were close to 200 escorts on any give night. One Japanese dude is equal to a gaggle of Indians. Sydebolle
The picture says it all - and for all those not believing, go and have a look at Swampy or Don Mueang airport. Quantity of Quality - Thailand managed perfectly well! Congratulations to the TAT in cooking the statistics - again - in their favour, well done!

Many places up for sale. My wife works in a Thai European food shop and the Swiss and Norwegians and Germans are not coming back. Of course, these are official figures, so they must be right... 4

This was up 3.51 per cent over the same period year with the revenue showing a similar increase at 3.45 per cent. What should I believe? One day you try at all costs to attract more tourists because the goal you have set for yourself is still far away, the day after you present new numbers that speak another language! You are unnecessarily shedding crocodile tears because you cannot understand the real reasons for the loss of tourists! 2
Parker2100
Yes, I was waiting for the part of the story that said these numbers are grom TAT. They finally got to it at the very end. TAT never (?) post negative information about tourism. And sometimes they are called on it by other Thai government agencies.

Popular Post spidermike007
Tourism numbers are going up, but income is dropping precipitously, as the quality of tourist is a pale shadow of what the nation used to see, even 5 years ago. Ask anyone in the tourism industry, and they all say the same thing. Income is way, way down. People who are coming here are not spending much, unless you are a 7/11, or a Tesco. Millions of Thais who are in the tourism industry, are badly hurting, from years of awful policy on the part of the TAT, Prayuth, and the tourism ministry. An astonishing level of incompetence is haunting this nation. 5

Popular Post outsider
The tourism ministry and TAT continue challenge each other, to see who can stuff their heads further up where there is no daylight. A fiercely intense competition, this. Literally a matter of face-saving. 3

Has happened more than once. About credibility, as TAT is not disclosing the source, theirs is zero. Or if they are guessing, well, a tiny bit better than zero, depending on who is doing the guessing. Someone, with credibility, has already informed you of their source.
