Chong Chom Crossing O-A Scam.

Featured Replies

Friend did a border hop yesterday at Chong Chom to get his 2nd year on his O-A from Canberra. Thai Immigration charged him 2000 baht on reentry.

Well, I went to see Da Nang for 2 weeks holidays. On my return to Thailand on my multiple entry OA visa I got another 12 months extended. No problems.

Did he argue or try to tell them politely that they r making a mistake? Did he get a receipt?

What would be the best way to handle this in order to call out the corruption and not pay the charge? Id be tempted to take out my phone to photograph/video and record the IO asking for payment and ask for his name.

Would be interesting to see what happens on the health insurance issue if he tried it again after today.

Thats why he went yesterday. ???? He stopped in SI on the way back and got his 12 month multi reentry permit. He asked the captain about retirement extension at the end. Captain told him not a problem come back when your within 45 days remaining on his O-A. No insurance required and his AUD account along with his baht account as combo is good to go.????

Interesting. I have to do the last 90 day report next week on my Canberra O-A. Hopefully Sisaket is the same situation.

I was told that the insurance must be covered for all new applications concerning O-A's. That includes extensions of stay based on an O-A. So your mate should be OK until it is time to extend.

SI says no insurance on and extension for retirement. Here lyes the problem..different interruption by different immigration offices and both SSK&SI are in Region 4 with HQ in Khon Khan.????

Fun isn't it? Non O extension does not need it. O-A does. According to Pacific Cross rep, O-A and O-X (10 year version) visas and extensions are the only ones effected....SO FAR!!!

If you want to take a chance, then leave Thailand the day before the entry stamp (permission to stay) expires, get a 3 month Non-O and then re-entry and get that (retirement or marriage) extended.

Surin Immigration says NO.  My friend was told by the captain at Surin Immigration to come back when he is within 45 days of the end of his second year which will be for him about October 1st next and apply. He had this discussion with the captain when he came back from Chong Chom and stoped at SI to get a multi permit for his second year.
