BANGKOK (NNT) - The authorities have beefed up security measures for the 35th ASEAN Summit at Impact Muang Thong Thani.

The 35th ASEAN Summit and related meetings at Impact Muang Thong Thani began with the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS), which is a meeting on business cooperation. Then, follow the 20th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting, the 24th ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting and a ceremony for the signing of the Southeast Asian Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.

The authorities have strictly inspected all vehicles and people entering and leaving the venue. They have to register and go through scanners at various points for safety reasons. The Challenger 3 building has been prepared to accommodate both Thai and foreign press members. There are shuttle buses for the relevant individuals. People can use alternate routes provided by the authorities to travel for convenience.

At the Media Center, there is an exhibition in the Green Cafe Zone. Local products of Thailand and products manufactured from waste materials in the interests of reducing global warming are displayed as Thailand, as the host of the meeting, has campaigned for and placed importance on waste reduction. Thai and international dishes have been prepared for the convenience of media personnel.

This must surely upset the local 'Do you know who I am brigade' even those who attempt to carry explosives through the scanners to test the efficiency????

The "Do-You-Know-Who-I-Am:s" will go through the pink security machines specially designed not to interrupt.
