  • I'm amazed they found any buyers!

  • This is what happens when 4,000 residents in 1,280 houses say 'This is not my problem' instead to get together and find a working solution they''d rather sell out and let someone else deal with it...

  • good morning Yinn, I am 64 years old and for as long as I can remember in the City of Los Angeles, California, USA there has been trash pick up. One day a week as a kid I would put the trash bin

Who live Pattaya?

Blame the local government. That’s where it ALL stems from.

Pattaya is a corrupt sewer / brothel for a reason.

The problem with that is the way Thailand's government has been so diligent to make sure that foreigners have no voice and no power to do anything about it.  Even if they wanted to, there's not a thing they can do legally.  Keep in mind they can not have majority say when they are only allowed to own 49% of the projects.

They even have a saying about them always having the upper hand. It allows them to stay in control of everything. Because the moment they don’t have control, we’d all fix this <deleted> hole of a country and the prices would sky rocket.

Be careful what you wish for.  The vast majority of tourists and foreigners buying property are Chinese.  If you think they're going to fix a trash problem, you should probably spend some time in China.  They will, however, drive up the price of real estate looking for a place to hide ill gotten cash.  Ask Vancouver and Oz residents...

BTW I'm the only foreigner in my community and there is no trash collection in the village. All Thai throw and burn trash everywhere.

and Yinn, please note how clean the street and sidewalks are. Not one piece of trash anywhere.

Couldn't the residents join together, a few 100 Baht each, to solve the issue? Surely wouldn't be that difficult to find someone to remove the trash for cash. Where they eventually will deposit the garbage is another issue...

Most likely, drive it down the road a few KMs and then dump it in the jungle/forest somewhere when no one's looking...

Where I lived in the US we were out in the sticks but we still had trash pick up. here like you there is no trash collection so everyone burns. I can deal with the burning of the sugar cane fields but the smell of burning plastic is bad

I suggest an inscription for a T-shirt.

I have a very remote land in Canada with no building and there is still trash collection every week in the summer and twice a month in the winter. We only go camping and the local regulation force us to have a dry toilet and absorbent well for gray water.

Bone idle, lazy, ignorant, self centered. That can just about sum up the residents. 4,000 people, a lot of whom appear to just dump waste on top of waste in the vain hope that someone else will clean it up. If you can see the rubbish is not collected how difficult can it be to take your bags a bit farther to a bin you know is regularly emptied, maybe on a soi nearer the town....

you are really cherry picking on this one yinn.

are you seriously going to post pics on here and talk about the garbage issue in this country ?  you are swimming upstream and are totally ignorant or a complete troll.

so what about the thai community ? why are they not working together ? up to them right ?

points to you for such a jedi level troll post. others here have proposed good ideas and thoughts on the matter.

you come in storming blaming the foreigner. a common tone in your posts.

555 I know my post won’t be popular one..

but is true. Up to community to take care.

pattaya is famous for dirty. Is true. Maybe because the people who go to live there, foreign and thai people, not really communitytogether.

where I live, the community together. Is clean. If we have like that in photo, we fix it one day. Sure. 100%

Maybe the buyers were the absentee trash collectors who drove down the prices.

Yin is blowing it out his (deleted) as usual, I wonder how his home country deals with trash - the highest polluter on the planet

It's the people's responsibility to put their trash in the bin and put it by the road or wherever it's the responsibility of the govt or whoever is being contracted to pick up the trash

We just got the annual bill the other day 480 baht for twice a week collection which I will gladly pay to keep our moo baan clean

I see Thais and Chinese just throw trash at their feet, they have zero concept of clean, it's what they are brought up with - trash all around

Seems we are fighting a losing battle with mr/s Yinn they are Thai

Thais just dont see litter its not on their radar that s why beaches, roads, fields and waste land is covered in litter!

I went to my local harbour in Klong wan today, there was a big wedding there yesterday, this morning you could not see the land for waste paper tissue and other rubbish , even in the countryside by me rubbish dumped .... Off course the standard answer from Thais is the dirty Burmese drop /dump it.

Like many things its an education thing BUT you would really imagine with this so called "Country pride Thailand is number one" thing they are indoctrinated into, they could harness it to do something about it, but probably no money in it

Maybe it will be working  in another generation in the cities, buthere in the sticks ....forget it!

wrong, it is the city authority responsibility to keep the city clean, why do you think it is so dirty - they are not doing their job, if left to the people what do you think is going to happen - oh wait

Suppose they could just do what the Thais do and burn it.....to supossedly keep mossies away 555

thats terrible ,our binmen come twice a week and take everything

Ours come once a week and take everything, It costs me 30 baht a week and is well worth the price.

I sort out the empty glass bottle etc and IF the salvage guy comes around he buys them. If he doesn't then I put them out for the trash men and they can make a few baht on them.
