Where is the good news promised on TM6 and TM30?

The government announced and so did Immigration, that the TM6 was to be abolished and TM30 rules were to be changed as they were completely out of date and not fit for purpose.

 

This followed a deluge of adverse publicity, petitions, and national as well as international news.

 

They said we would have answers inside two months, but that was three months ago, I believe?

 

Has anybody heard anything? I thought everything was to be updated, made user friendly and brought into the 21st century?

 

I know about the app. for phones regards the TM30, is that it?, That isn't really a change, is it? It is just an alternative way of reporting.

 

Do we still report going out of province?

 

Recent arrivals , are you still filling in arrival and departure cards?

Much of the fervor seems to have gone out of the TM30 "crackdown." I'm no longer seeing people paraded in front of the cameras. I'm guessing it will gradually recede as an issue. And that is probably because of the noise raised by the petition (the Canadian lawyer in Issan), the reports in the BBC, Nikkei Asian Review among many others. I admit that my initial approach to this was wrong. I thought it best to lay low and hope the TM 30 disappeared. But it's clear now that this government has a policy of gradually tightening the screws on farangs where they can get away with it. The petition and all the publicity turned out to be the exact right thing to do, because it was warning off tourists and contributing to Thailand's newly developing reputation as a police state hostile to foreigners. Frankly, the same thing is going on with the Insurance requirement, now. A similar strategy should be employed against that little domino too.

Not sure about the TM6, but I predicted they’d let the TM30 disappear quietly and pretend it never happened. There was no way they were going to officially announce it was over. Too much face to be lost, especially after that embarrassing meeting with immigration where they made flippant remarks like, “it’s the law” and “don’t travel, then”. 
 

The TM30 was a cash grab plain and simple. An abhorrent cash grab in a time where foreign investment and interest is very low and the economy is sinking. Unchecked stupidity and greed begets more stupidity and greed.

Been in Kohn Kaen for 3 days and went to Nonthaburi Immigraton yesterday to do the out of province report back and was told it is no longer required and was abolished last month.

Yep, I had the same message from immigration on my last 90 day report. The hotel still completes a TM30 online but arriving back home there is no need for the householder, landlord, etc to file the return to province.

 

Never did it anyway and never had any query from immigration either about why I was not re-registered back home after being out of province.

I think that the commitment was to make reporting, and registering for reporting, easier, and not that any reporting (TM6, TM30, TM47) would be eliminated.

 

TM6's are required for most immigration activities, can't see that being eliminated.

Arrival/Departure cards still required.

 

TM30 is still required, at least for accomplishing most tasks (TM7, TM8 definitely) at Immigration at Bangkok/CW. I think requirements for filing a new TM30, upon return to your domestic domicile of record, vary by office. Some recommend insuring you file, at a minimum, on your last return just prior having to go to Immigration for any sort of activity.

 

TM30 registration, both for the website and mobile app, are said to be simpler, easier, quicker.

Meanwhile in Chiang Mai, people who went out for dinner and a drink over the weekend will still need to report to immigration on Mon/Tue that they've got back home.

Same on the 1st and out of curiosity i asked the IO as i was returning to my original address was a new Tm30 required, he said NO.

When home rang the hotline answer was YES within 24hrs.

TM6 is far easier than before. It takes 1 minute to fill it. I hope you are right about TM30

I would far rather sip on a wine whilst airborne & fill out the simple TM 6 than waste a day going to immigration to submit a TM30. (My Thai landlady does not want to know anything about it)

It is still just gossip until anyone can get their Non-imm O or B renewed without showing their TM30.

TM6 arrival and departure cards will no longer be required for Thai nationals, Sansern said. The order will be published in the Royal Gazette and come into effect this Saturday. The revocation was scheduled for October 1 but all concerned agencies were ready to implement it earlier, he said.

The office in Chiang Mai is open on Saturday and Sundays just

for that,they are very serious about it up here,don't know

if other offices around the country are open at weekends.?
