Udon Thani: Loy Krathong gold robber looks like a trader

Thai caption: Robbery on Loy Krathong evening

A gold shop robber who looked remarkably like a merchant stole jewelry worth more than a million baht from a Tesco Lotus store last night, the evening of Loy Krathong.

The robbery happened at the Tesco Lotus store in the Rangsina area.

The man was dressed in an apron and surgical mask and was pictured vaulting the counter.

The Udon Thani provincial police chief was on the scene interviewing the female owner and a female staff member.

The robber - aged about 35 - 40 - escaped with 1.1 million baht in gold.

There should be plenty of cctv around to see where he went and what vehicle he used .

why dont they lock the <deleted> doors, my gold shop does, they let it be known as you go in, so any thief with more than one brain cell will go for easier pickings elsewhere. or even have a sign on the door, saying THESE DOORS WILL LOCK AFTER ENTRY , that would put off any thief

This was an open fronted shop inside Tesco Lotus, so there are no doors. The front of the shop faces directly onto the main walkway.

Check out the cctv footage (available on other sites) . Obviously, the apron was worn to serve a purpose = BIG, easily accessible, pockets.

BTW, the footage is quite entertaining.

Have you ever been to Thailand? Your comment has made yourself look so stupid. It was in Tesco Lotus and it is a concession stall/shop meaning it is open counter hence the guy jumped over the counter. All shopping centre, Malls even supermarkets have them.

once robber fees and gold chains scattered possible one away from cameras view how tempting is a gold necklace valued about more than sales making in a year is among stolen gold may make this ladies day finding it disappears in her hand without question?...just looking at this from a person cooking for fat and well feed customer no accounting for tasting the food and more customers the more the tasting free! The fox in hen house blamed for missing chickens...
