new experiences with Phuket immigration

Today I was on immigration due to my 90-day report, quite a short wait. The official welcomed me with a wai and worked very fast. Goodbye another wai and have a nice day. Wonderful I was very happy.

Did you use the drive through or go inside?

I expect was drive through as the officer there is very cheerful. He should be as he has nothing to do. The assistant does all the computer/printer work.

It was the double wai that I found unlikely to be given from the person behind the window. My experiences are of an arm reaching for the passport though a partly opened gap.

Always a woman working there when I've been.

I had the same feeling he was referring to going inside.

At Drive Through things always go fast and easy in my experience, for a basic 90 days or TM30 I see no reason at all to go inside.

seems you one of the lucky ones, i went down 2 weeks ago to do 90 days reporting at Phuket and the guy was a total arrogant dick, i have been here 15 years and doing it the same way but this time he was on a mission to be as unhelpful as possible even though i was quiet and calm and asked a specific question and he just waved me away, i sent my lawyer down over the next few days to do and as usual thai on thai no problems even though he kept pointing to something telling me this wrong .. no wonder i took Thai Elite and stay away from that place and these guys as much as possible i should have let TE do the reporting for me but as it was due i thought would just do myself...

ive been going to phuket town immi for many years and the MEN have been nothing but nice

Women officers are a handful anywhere though.

If the guys over there are <deleted>ty to you, you most likely have a bad attitude and people that surround you are enabling you.

Last time the guy said: i remember you(ive never spoken to that one, my wife handles it) and you're looking good.

bad men right ????

Wow in 11 yrs I have never come across any arrogance from IO's 90 day report last week and again fast efficient and pleasant service, maybe you come across as arrogant which makes them retaliate!

Phuket Immigration was great back in 2013, and I was impressed. Now in 2019, they are still excellent. You don't get this kind of service from Samui Immigration.

Record time for my retirement extension today.

I arrived a little later than I wanted at 8:25. Papers checked straight away by the skinny friendly IO with glasses; needed one additional photocopy of two year old entry stamps for some reason! Did this, got back and was given number 2 just as the shout from the inside came: "1 and 2".

Number 1 had the grumpy looking man at the back, I had the grumpy sounding man at the front. "1900 baht", "phone number", "sit there", as he pointed to the back and passed my papers to the data entry clerk, were the only words uttered from his mouth. I was finished before number 1, had my photo taken, told to return on Monday, given a receipt (though my 100 baht change seems to have disappeared into a black hole somewhere!) and I was out by 8:40.

Worth a missing 100 baht to be in and out so quickly!

I just got back from a successful visit to the immigration office in Patong, where I extended my METV for 30 days. I was in and out within 5 minutes!

I've extended tourist visas before in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Hat Yai and this was by far the best experience. No questions asked and super quick - I was the only one there! Perhaps I was lucky. The staff were all grumpy, but I was only in there for a matter of minutes so I can live with that.
