The most surprising thing is that there was no warning that this might happen.           (sarcasm on)

Ok u claim to be in Pats. So Go to ask  to a random condo developer ,bar girl,  a real estate agent, an restaurant owner, shop owner, taxi driver, beach chair rental guy ect ask them how their business has been.

btw don’t need to tell me the outcome because I already know their answers!

Great. When did you undertake this survey and how many participants?

Sounds familiar to me. We used to say, shake hands with an Indian and then count to see if you still have all your fingers. They would buy a car from us, then come the day of delivery refuse to take it unless we gave more discount.

If the Thais are counting on the Indians to save their tourism industry they are in for a rude shock. (That will teach them for not taking care of Western tourists and residents before)

In Canada they have a major influx of young Indians. From what I u derstand if they work and go to school for 2 years they get citizen status.

They all work, they are clean, fluent English, well mannered, polite.

happy people, again, not the typical pattaya tourist.

A major middle class emerging, same as the Chinese.

but pattaya doesn't attract this type of tourist.

a low end destination attracts low end tourists. It wears one down weaving in and out of crowds of such, expat, Chinese or Indians.

Just not a nice place to be anymore.

but this is where you choose to live, don't bitch, enjoy!

i can u derstand the animosity , buying a place to enjoy retirement, stuck there and watching the place being over run with. A new class of tourist, and expats being pushed out.

????????????????

Just open your eyes eventually even you will notice the empty bars, the empty songteaws , the uncountable for rent&sale signs on shophouses etc !

There is no proof its 40 % down. Please show a link thats not an "opinion" or "Anecdotal"

Nope of course you cant so you are clueless if you fall for every opinion post, and you think that makes sense?

It came from the secretary of the Pattaya entertainment (something or other) body. He said it's 40% down for the same time last year.

Nobody pulled the 40% out of thin air, it was reported across the Thai media not just on social media and forums.

You forget who is governing the country. They are loaded with beautiful watches and submarines. They have no empathy for those who rely on tourist jobs.

Down!  Really!  Cannot believe it!  Beers and girls should be dropping their prices significantly I hope!

Love it! Nice 'n quiet..

Until your favorite places start shutting down.

Can not vote in Thailand, but my wallet can.

As my nick says, out of Thailand every 90 days. No need to go IMI at all.

Spending there, absolutely nothing in Thailand. My little personal protest make's me feeling good.

Just checked last minute deals from Scandinavia to Thailand, still possible, not as before, when all was sold 6 months earlier.

Norwegian cancel most of flights to Thailand as Thai Airways too from ARN.

Last time I visited Thai owned bar-restaurant must be over 5 years ago. Only falangs places for me. My way to help hard working fellows.

I agree.

Thailand is now a regressive country, at a crucial time when their competitors are being so progressive.

This means, not only is Thailand going backwards, but going backwards quickly.

I can confirm that Indians spend 10,000 baht a day between 30 of them that's just over 300 baht each 555

Can confirm bus loads of Indians arriving at the holiday Inn soi buhakow, these are older well dressed males

Chinese seem to have gone after the fire

It's more fun in the Philippines anyway

+ way cheaper

+ no rude holes behind a desk screaming

"you come too often!!!!"

"what you do here?"

"you want that sweet 345 THB for 10 hours of work job, riiight?"

Instead you can stay 3 years on tourist visa without even leaving the country

i agree i just came from philippines and more white people than i have ever seen in 14 years of going there , the have cleaned out the rubbish mostly in burgos and other areas in manila and now i had a great time no issues whatever . Thailand IO screaming at you no thanks and refusal ruining your holiday being sent home let them crash and their fake news record arrivals haha garbage so lets see in the new year after the 2 week millionaires in town go home after keeping them afloat over Xmas and New Year as i used to do that .

I dunno that the Thai leaders will wanna do such an abrupt about face.

I'm just a holiday maker but I know one 12 year expat who's started arrangements to return to the UK. And he was a big spender.

Can you point with finger on map to show where is the bad world economy?

The only economies going to toilet are Thailand, India, China

And funnily Thailand expect India and China to save them lol

Meanwhile Europe and US are doing well with some of the lowest unemployment in decades.

There were 8.6 million people of working age who were classed as economically inactive in the UK in 2018.

Nearly all were entitled to claim some sort of benefit, which is percentage that would be a tremendous drain on any national economy.

This will be a sight worth seeing, inane smiles greeting nodding heads.

Exactly my experience. Had been stopped twice by immigration just by having toured Thailand too often. Considering how much money you spend in 4 weeks, you should expect a hearty welcome and a thank you instead. But going to the Philippines or Vietnam, the immigration officers greet you friendly, smile and wish you a nice stay. No joke, they really did.

I first came to Thailand in 1984 and have been a regular visitor since 1999.

I have never once received a 'Welcome to Thailand' nor even a smile from a Thai IO. Mostly it's as if it's beneath them to as much as even look at you.

Whoever came up with that Land of Smiles claptrap must have had some warped sense of humour.

Good luck with that. He never backs up anything. The other day he said, "...in the last 5 years the resale units here have have lost 30% of their value". End quote.  No link, of course.  There's no doubt whatsoever that you can pick and choose and find condos that have lost value but certainly not all have lost 30% of their value these past 5 years.  I have sold at least 6 condos the past 5 years in Pattaya, all at a profit, including one this year, so none of mine lost 30%.  Guess he forgot to include me when he was doing his survey in his head.

Have you got a 'link' to all these condo sales you've been making at a profit.

If he should have to provide a link to back up his statement then so should you. Or failing that if you're really into all this 'link or source' claptrap produce one that counters his claim.

How much is "many"? 10? 20?

How many expats in Thailand? More than 100'000 :whistling:

Yes maybe a very few one have left,

but there are also new ones arriving

On my condo floor an Australian recently bought to retire next year.

And that Aussie is probably saying to himself right now, "Strewth, what the **** did I wanna go and do that for. I can't even afford the Sheilas any more".

Thats because the answers are always the same!! lol you obviously dont frequent nightlife in Pattaya but every year is bad . Porn the beer bar girl will always say ..hab no customer , no boom boom.. even though she is not able to sit from constant banging. Taxi drivers say hab no customer doah ! thats to get a sympathy tip

And you buy into this nonsense ? good for you

Some GGBs in Pattaya have just a handful of punters in them.

I walked past some open bars in Soi Diana recently and there were just a handful of punters at nearly every bar. One bar had no punters whatsoever and only two women behind the bar. This was at around 11 pm on the 18th of December. At this time of the year every one of those bars would be buzzing in recent years.

When there are fewer punters in the bars the atmosphere suffers and some girls call it a day and go back home cos they can't even make their rent money. And the ones that remain attempt to put their prices up.

It was the jolly ambience that attracted to punters to Pattaya's bars but that ambience is fast disappearing along with the happy friendly attitude of the girls. They seem to be losing heart. As are many Falangs. In nearly every bar the girls that remain outnumber the customers.

It's much the same in Walking Street and LK Metro.

Last time I saw this sign at entrance of a WS agogo :

"Sorry, it's full! Please come back in 15 minutes"

So clearly there are customers... if the agogo is good.
